Food Report Criticizes Biofuel Policies
Why are humans so stupid?
I'm baffled almost daily at how we do so many stupid things. The latest example is using bio-fuels to prevent global warming that is now causing an increase in food prices.Mr. Schafer’s remarks came as ethanol and biofuels are coming under increasing criticism from foreign leaders and members of Congress, as grocery prices climb in the developed world and malnutrition and hunger threaten to spread in the poorest nations.I have been looking for a single shred of proof that humans cause global warming and can't find it. Thanks to the global warming scare the world has been going to bio-fuels like using ethanol produced from corn. Since Al Gore and Hollywood told us that we need to use alternative fuels vice digging off the Florida coast and in Alaska then we had to listen ignoring opposing views. Did we not think that taking corn to produce fuel just might reduce the supply in the food market? People fail to understand basic economics a.k.a supply and demand. Take away the supply while increasing demand equals higher prices.
Just hours before his comments, a major report was released in Paris that urged countries to reconsider biofuels policies in the wake of soaring food prices.
Well, now food prices are sky rocketing causing a bigger problem than fuel shortages. Do you like to drive or eat? Personally, I would rather eat several times a day than drive a car. No wonder that all of the dominant species become extinct eventually.

It's only America that is stupid, Brazil has no problem with it as they are energy independant because of their use of Bio Fuels.
There are 3 SIMPLE solutions
1. Switch to Sugar based ethanol like most intelligent countries
2. Stop paying the farmers NOT to grow food, that would catch the supply up with the demand
3. End the record spending in Washington that has our dollar at the lowest in history then other countries won't be buying up our food supply.
But instead of going off on global warming maybe he should also explain that we are sending more of our corn etc. overseas. Exports have greatly increased to places like China because of our weak dollar .

Again I think global warming is a mute point because for every article or scientists who says it's not man made there are ones who believe it is. I have not seen scientific proof EITHER way just know that the ice caps are melting, the storms are getting worse and drilling for oil is not any solution to the problem all it will do is make the oil companies richer..

Maybe those 400 pound people will think twice before spending $400 on groceries?

That would be great! Also, anyone else notice how Japane once again is leading the way on this issue? In the 1970 they produced small cars due to the rising gas prices while American car producers continued to put out large gas guzzlers. It is happening again!

This is when I first came to know about this concept (page 9 6. Getting the Carbon Out of Cars), very well written article:
