This will be interesting...if UD wins the suit, will we see more Derek Jeter and Ken Griffey autos in Topps products all of a sudden? More Arod and Bonds autos in new UD products??? I guess "exclusive" rights to certain players will be a thing of the past.

If UD goes out of business, maybe they'll have a fire sale on all the billions of dual-autographed-logo patch cards of MJ/LeBron they have. I mean, you just KNOW they have a product in the works where every card will be one of those.

It is interesting to note that Topps has produced relic cards of Daisuke even though he signed an exclusive deal with UD.

Is he really UD exclusive? There are pics of Dice-K auto/auto-relic cards in the Topps Triple Threads sellsheet. I don't think Topps would do that as to give UD something against them in this.

That said, I think UD is going down in this. It certainly is an arrogant move by UD and they know it. At least Topps has some backbone here after getting topped (pun intended) by UD lately.

    Go Topps!

Actually, chance's are Topp's loses. When the agreement with MGM was signed, Upper Deck already had cut's being produced, with the sell sheet's out and presells sold. Honestly, I think Topps is out of luck.

Yeah but those are presells. I don't think it matters, as far as avoiding the copyright or whatever, until the product is live or official (or even then). You could be making them/selling them, but once Topps has the exclusive rights from CMG, you have to stop/recall the production and/or sales.

As far as the money Topps wants, who knows. Something has to happen outside, because I don't think they'll settle amongst themselves after the buyout fiasco.

In any case, CMG talked to both Topps and UD long before SP Cuts even went on presell (I think last November). UD knew what it was doing.

I know that Topps has survived for a very long time in this business! You can only assume that they know what they are doing. I did have a question: Topps is in PA and Upper Deck is in CA, why did they file in Indianapolis?

I hate UD. They're like EA but with sports Cards. Luckily neither was able to secure the monopoly they wanted on their respective industries
