Short Print Question

I'm still trying to learn the ropes, but got a few questions about the short print cards. What 2008 boxes have the short prints? Of those that do, when do the SP lists come out? And the last question, are the short prints a special insert or are they just a regular rookie card that was only produced in a limited amount?!?

the short prints are a gimmick the companys practice to make the sets harder to complete. so you have to buy more packs.
personally, i think its a low life practice on the part of the company.
the companys care more for the dealers than the collector, and anything the companys do to help the collector is because of an ulterior motive.
all the collector is, is a way for dealers and the companys to make money.
think about this---is the national set up for collectors, or for dealers and companys to make money?

Now to address your questions. Of the cards out so far, I think only Prestige has SP cards in the base set that aren't serial numbered. Elite has some SP cards, but they're numbered. Also, Press Pass and Press Pass SE have some autograph variants that are SP'd.

The list is already out for Prestige and at least most of it is out for the Press Pass autos (they release it in 3 or 4 pieces). Just go to Google and type in "Prestige SP list" or something like that and you should be able to find it. Also, for Prestige at least, Beckett shows which cards are SP as well.

In most cases, SP refers to a regular base card that is short printed. Most inserts or parallels that are SP will have a serial number on them showing that. W/Press Pass, some of the autos are, but you can usually tell because either it's signed in red ink instead of blue or the player has signed his nickname or something to do with his college team, that kinda stuff.

What's a red inked PP SE auto worth? I pulled an Andre Caldwell red inked today out of a pack.

The BV has not come out yet on Press Pass SE. Usually the multiplier for Red Ink is 1.5x or 2x the base auto. By the way, nice pull!!

So what is a trader to do when he pulls a card that doesn't have a BV out yet? Wait til the bv comes out to trade it, go by ebay prices, or base it off other similiar cards of that player? I have a few cards I pulled this weekend that I'd like to try and figure out the BV before I trade them away!

Either I go by Ebay (usually the cards sell for about half BV on there) or I just wait until BVs come out.
