J.D. Drew and Lyle Overbay
My fiancee and I stayed in San Francisco a few nights to go to a couple baseball games across the bay in Oakland a couple weeks ago. We ended up staying across the street from the Red Sox which was pretty cool. While on out way to breakfast before the Sunday game we walked by the hotel the Red Sox were staying in while they were departing for the game. I missed about half of them leaving in cabs. I guess Terry Francona and Craig Hanson signed a few autographs for the 4 fans waiting outside before we got there. Right as we got there Manny Ramirez, Julio Lugo and Jason Varitek left for the game but didn't sign anything. Got some cool pics of them though. The only one who ended up signing for the now 6 fans waiting outside was J.D. Drew who signed even though he was on his cell phone and holding a bag with his breakfast in it. That was cool of him. He signed a ball for me and my fiancee got a pic of me holding his breakfast bag so he could sign.
A couple days later we saw the Blue Jays play Oakland and before the game Lyle Overbay was signing a few auto's at the stadium and he signed a ball for me too. All in all it was a great trip and I love to see players take the time to sign a few autographs for the fans. I honestly think they can make fans for life just by showing a few seconds of consideration. J.D. Drew has been doing great lately and that is just awesome too!
