I've been playing for over 20 years. - I'm assuming that you are talking about fantasy.

There are a couple of different keeper styles - ones that keep only 1 or two players based on a cap or a simple number and those that maintain the large majority if not everyone off of the past year's roster.

The thing to keep in mind about beginning this process is to start early. Owners need to know well in advance that they will be in a positon to keep X numbers of players for the upcoming season. For many it could actually affect what transactions they make in the previous year.

The best advice is to start slow -allow owners to choose 1 player to keep. This allows them to get used to the new system and also allows for some flexibility if and when owners leave and new owners are recruited.

My league switched to a 2 keeper league 4 years ago...what we do is lock the rosters after the last day of the season. 2 weeks before our draft (which is held on the weekend before the 1st game) everyone has to announce their keepers (MUST keep 2) then the rosters are cleared and the commish adds those players to your roster and emails the league with everyones keepers.
