I think that most people way say it is a stretch that Punk is the next Austin. That is like saying he is the next Flair or Hogan. Those 3 guys are legends that are irreplaceable. Until Punk has proven he can put butts in the seats this conversation is premature.

Punk is someone who appeals to people like us, the hardcore fans who watch wrestling regardless. He is not someone who appeals to the masses, and although very popular, to say he is the best promo in the business is an absolute joke.
I can watch ROH until i'm blue in the face and it doesn't mean a thing. Ring of Honor is a great promotion that caters to a specific fan base, as noted by the fact that they draw crowds that are consistently below 1000 paid. While the ROH fan is typically a rabid fan, and the wrestlers in ROH are by far some of the best workers in the business, it still doesn't mean they can draw at a national level.
I'm glad you like CM Punk, I like him as well. But to say he is the one to bring wrestling back to prominence isn't true. Let him headline a Wrestlemania or two first, then we'll talk. I just don't see him getting to that point.

I really thought the ECW drafting Smackdown people was a little redundant since ECW stars were wrestling on Smackdown anyways

Ecw is going to start touring with raw. thats why that was done.
as fair as Punk goes. I just see it in him. Mark my words. THere are TONS of little kids who love that guy. If the WWE doesn't botch stuff. I think the guy will be GOLD. The same with Samoa Joe. Both guys have "IT".

I agree. I think he will cash it in tonight after edge beats Batista. He looks like the man with the breifcase though.

he cashed it in, and beat jbl later on in the night to defend, best thing that could of happen to him. Its ashame that he cant do half the moves that he was able to do in indy promotions cause of stupid safety laws. They even banned the anaconda vise. He would be like the best if he was able to do them. A superstar you have to look out for is matt sydal/evan bourne on ecw. i followed him for the last year and he is very impressive. He was allowed to do the Shooting star press on ecw. a move that is banned and has been over a year since it happened. but he got permission to do it though. this kid is the real deal

matt sydal is the man. his work in TNA and Roh was fantastic.
Once Punk is a main eventer he will have pull. The only Move that he won't move is The pepsi plunge.
BTW, "stupid safety laws" Other then like four Top rope moves, and the pile driver they haven't banned many moves. I'm All for the banning of the piledriver, it looks like crap, and its ends people careers.
