But here, I propose a very fair trade. I will trade the second amendment for the fourth amendment. If the Bush administration releases the fourth amendment that it is currently holding hostage, I'm happy to consider the Supreme Court decision on the second amendment final and decisive. You keep the second amendment, we keep the fourth.

The very fact that we are even willing to consider giving up some of our rights says a lot about the direction this country is going.

What I find truly comical is how people state the "conservative" Supreme Court. This is the same Supreme Court that stated that Gitmo detainees deserve the right in US courts completely again what conservatives and President Bush want. Then when the same exact Supreme Court makes a ruling they don't like it is "conservative."
This is why this guy's argument doesn't hold any water.
Now on to gun rights.
I find it just as funny that people think that making guns illegal will make criminals not have them. Like criminals will say, "golly, since there is a gun ban in Washing D.C. I'm not going to carry my gun into D.C. to protect this shipment of drugs that I'm shipping."
Does anyone actually believe that criminals follow gun laws? All anti-gun laws do is take guns away from people that follow the law. I can promise you the gang banger that has done his 5th drive by shooting for the month will not suddenly stop carrying a gun just because some law states he can't. That's why he is a criminal. Laws mean nothing to him!
Do some research on England, a country with strict gun laws, and you will see their crime rate is much worst than ours in many areas. Gun laws simply mean you will have your fists to defend against the thug with a gun trying to steal your wallet or rape your wife. Taking a gun away from a guy like me that abides by the law and is military trained to shoot it is silly.
Exhibit A: Drugs have been illegal for ever and they don't deter anyone from using them. Same with prostitution and countless other offenses. Criminals will be criminals and punishing law abiding citizens only strengthens the criminals who will carry guns regardless of the laws!

I think it's quit valid, if you are going to defend one part of the constitution (Gun Rights) you have to defend the others (trials for detainees, and the taking away of our rights granted by the constitution)..
This is almost the same supreme court that put Bush into office on a ruling that they made that only counts once and can never be referred to in any future cases..
