Greatest Card you ever owned

Sorry for the long read but I hope they get the point across. I came over from the Bench and have been trading here for about 6 months but havent posted in the forums. I have to say I have had 2 greatest cards and they are both for sentimental reasons.
One was back when GU'd was scarce and my wife didnt have much money to buy me anything for my birthday so she bought a few packs of UD SPx at the local shop. The odds were way out there but I pulled the Willie Mays Upper Deck 500 HR Club Bat card. Times got hard and I had to part with it though. One I wish I still had.
The second is an off the wall card 98 Donruss Signature Ryan Klesko Century Auto. Once again it envolves my wife. Times were still tight and she said I could take some of what little money we had left after the bills and buy it off ebay. Being a 3rd shift family we went to bed and when I awoke at 3pm, she had passed away during our sleep. Of all the high dollar Wang RC's and Ryan Howard Auto RC's this one I still have and will keep along with all the Kleskos she bought for me over the years we were together.
Im sure there are others out there whose greatest card isnt thier most expensive.

Thanks for sharing that Shawn. My absolute favorite card of all time is my 1988 Pittsfield Cubs minor league issue of Joe Girardi - there was a rain delay that night, and Joe signed the card for me, he was super nice and had a similar last name to mine (Gerard.) I always collected his stuff after that, and then he wound up playing for and now managing my favorite team. I know it's not worth much, but that's one card I will never sell.

i have a little story to tell, my favorite card all time happens to be the first card i ever pulled, my very first pack of cards....it was a jeff hostetler base card (giants). at the time i was around 4,5 or 6 my dad had brought me a pack..that hostetler made me into a giants fan back when i was 5 then he went to the oakland raiders the very next year...( the year after he won the superbowl with the giants)... and being a child i switched with him and became a proud member of the raider nation.......and also because the raider wore black and silve i started liking the spurs in bball because they wore black and silver also... that card is still with me today and it takes me back everytime i look at it. that card is the single reason i pull for the teams i do as a grown man... sometime i think who would i be pulling for if someone else was on the top of that first pack....lol

My best card is and which I will hold forever is my 2005 Donruss Diamond Kings Babe Ruth duel jersey and bat card. the book value is about $400 and I know even though it is worth so much that it will never leave my hands. theres a pic of it in my bucket.

Kinda weak, but I have a 1962 Topps Stan The Man in real nice condition.

Not weak at all. Stan Musial is one the greatest players ever and any card of his would be right up there. Although I am pretty much an AL guy, he and Ernie Banks were right there with Nellie Fox and Billy Pierce when I was a kid.

It's kind of tough to decide so I will go with these 3:

1. In 1997 when Flair Showcase was the 1st to have Masterpiece (1/1) cards I worked with someone who pulled Jeff Bagwell but was not internet smart so I told him I would sell it for him. I posted it on the old AOL sportscard boards at $2100 /OBO. It sold within 30 minutes. That card probably sells for $30 now.

2. It's not really the card but what I got for it. At the 2000 National in Cleveland I pulled an Elite facemask card of Marino and Elway. This was cracked at the Doruss booth so you could get them stamped with the National Logo.

Tracy Hackler, then of Donruss and now of Beckett is/was a HUGE Bledsoe fan and offered me an autographed Drew Bledsoe jersey for it. Being as Bledsoe was the main part of my collection then I took it in a heartbeat.

3. 2001 Score Select. They had a Franchise Tags insert. THese are autographed jerseys, some 2 and 3 color.

I ended up with 5 of these out of the 8 boxes I bought. The best were redemptions for Bledsoe and Favre. The others were Stephen Davis, Tony Gonzalez and I can't remember the other player.

I redeemed the Favre and Bledsoe I got SOOOOOOOOOO excited because I looked too quick. The Favre looked like it was #'d 4/50 but it was 14/50. The Bledsoe went into the PC and I had it until I recently sold it to a Bledsoe collector.

For a time, I had a G/VG 52 Topps Mantle- sold it at the height of the market, but it always got a lot of attention whenever I had it out on the table. Something about that card makes people go stupid...

My favorite card now is my 48 Leaf Musial RC.

One is my 1986 Topps Jerry Rice rookie card. Back in the 80s, my uncle and I both collected cards, and he gave me the Rice RC for Christmas one year. We have since grown apart, but the Rice reminds me of the closeness we once had.

The second is my 1997 UD Legends Marion Motley auto. I have always respected what he and Bill Willis did, breaking the color barrier, so I ended up springing for this card on ebay several years back.

Two different stories- two great cards- and two that, even if I quit collecting, will never leave my possession
