Arenas takes paycut, resigns with Wizards
Article
-----
He's taking a paycut to stay with the Wizards.....I'm not sure why they are trying to keep the core together....it hasn't been working for them really....they keep making the playoffs, but exiting after the first round.

i guess 111 million dollars is taking a pay cut?? i didnt know that. this just proves why the nba is so messed up. gilbert hasnt proven anything but he cant make it out of the first round and is injury prone as of late and makes that much? i have 111 million different things i could do than give that money to agent zero

My thoughts exactly, but I didn't want to be biased in my first post....$111 mil is insane....oooooh...$16 million....maybe they can give it to Latrell Sprewell who "has a family to feed"

crap. i'd take $500,000 and be a happy man. now no person deserves that much money, but if someone gets it, it should be people who can improve the team while there playing, not improve the team while there injured

I'd be happy if I won $100,000! Even $10,000! Heck, even $100! lol

well, they have had a lot of injuries and maybe they are optimistic that this season they'll all be able to play together. it's a risk but apparently a risk they were willing to take. aside from how he plays, arenas is also kind of the face of the franchise, i'm sure he does a lot for the ticket sales and merchandise sales etc.

So $127 million to $111 million is a paycut? Sorry Wiz fans, but there won't be a title coming your way since Agent "Zero" decicided to take in a butt load of cash. He must be related to Latrell Sprewell. Need to feed his family I bet. Arenas isn't even a top 10 player, and this makes him one of the highest paid players in the league.

Marbury isn't even a top 20 player and he makes more than Arenas, lol.
With this deal, the Wizards just put themselves into financial hell, by having Arenas at over $100 million and having Jamison under contract until he's 36.

Yeha, what a great guy, taking that huge paycut...he may have to sell some stuff on Ebay just to pay the bills.
As for the team, I just don't see them going anywhere with the same crew!

16 million is a big paycut... and don't blame it on gilbert. if the wizards were smart, they would have sign and traded him... maybe to detroit for a couple of their starters. i don't know, but either way, 16 million dollars is not a small paycut.
