UPDATE: Max Siegel, President of Global Operations at DEI is currently in negotiations with major investors to buy Teresa Earnhardt out of DEI, a source close to the negotiations said Monday. It appears now that Teresa is finally willing to sell, and Siegel is working diligently with a number of potential investors to take the company over. Sources said Siegel would not just be buying a portion of DEI or a controlling interest, rather, he would be buying the entire company. Sources said, Teresa has agreed to walk away from the company entirely for the right price. That price is supposedly somewhere between $115-$130 million dollars. With one exception...Teresa would retain the rights to all "Dale Earnhardt' and 'Intimidator' rights and merchandise sales. Siegel would only be buying the DEI race teams, and real estate including all race shops and the DEI headquarters in Mooresville, NC. Sources said Siegel is very serious about the purchase and appears to have investors salivating over the opportunity to own the legendary team. In addition, Teresa has grown more frustrated with NASCAR nation following her fall-out with the sports most popular driver, and wants nothing more than to be out of the public eye for good.


No more proof needed. She has run DEI into the ground. She should change her name to YOKO, I am very disappointed with what she has done. The right thing for her to do would have been to sell to Dale Jr. so that he could have salvaged his Dad's business and restored it to glory for the Earnhardts. I am very sad that she chose $ over the right thing to do. Maybe Dale Jr. can still get it back with the help of Rick Hendrick and make this what Dale Sr. wanted. What a horrible woman! This business was meant for his kids, I hate he didn't have a will to settle this stuff, that was his mistake but maybe he thought his wife would never act or do this evil stuff.

Big shocker....should it really surprise anyone that she ran that entire organization into the ground? Look at her driver lineup--outside of Truex, it's a joke. I bet Dale Sr. is rolling in his grave, seeing what she's done to DEI.

I have to agree it is Ridiculous what she has done to that family's history in racing, she should have at least turned controlling interest to the kids, but being the money grubin %&*# she is that wasn't gonna happen. I hate to say it cause he shouldn't have to, but Jr should go ahead & purchase it so he preserve his family's legacy and build back another winning team DEI has been known to have since beginning....

I am a business owner as well and so is my Dad. He started the business mainly to give his kids and family a better life. He has helped me with mine and I have a son over a year old and a daughter due next month and that is my main focus eveyday with the business, to make it successful and leave it to my children. I have to believe that is what at least the main goal was for Dale Sr's and I just hate he didn't leave a will stating this, especially with what his profession was. He had to have thought Teresa would up-hold that I guess but she should be ashamed of herself, how could you look in the mirror everyday. I know Dale Jr. isn't hurting for cash and neither is Kelly. Maybe they do give Kerry $ from the business, I don't know. I know Taylor of course will always definitely be taken care of since she is Teresa's daughter but that business is more than $, it is legacy and memories for the kids of their Dad.

All she had to do was do the right thing and sell to Dale Jr. last year and get out of it totally. She obviously didn't care about making DEI last, she only thought about herself. Everyone have heard the stories of how Dale & Teresa both were never there for Dale Jr. or Kelly, they were shipped off to military school. They never had a good relationship w/ Teresa when they were just kids, that was up to their parents to fix, not them.

She wants to disappear b/c everyone is so hard on her, oh well. Act like you have a heart. I love Dale Sr. but he was not much better when it came to caring for his kids until right before his death but of course it was too late after that. But at least he left something for his kids and she took that away too. What if Dale Jr. never became a racer and him and his sister didn't have alot. Would Teresa have ever let them have anything? It was never definite Dale Jr. would become successful and DEI was already in the works, there was a good chance Dale Jr. would not make it. They might have never seen a cent from her, I know there is a lot of harsh stuff about her but believe me I am censoring myself severely from what I would really like to say!

Dale Earnhardt Inc. is not for sale -- right now.


DEI president Max Siegel on Tuesday refuted an Internet report that company owner Teresa Earnhardt had commissioned investment banking firm Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. to locate a buyer or financial investment partner.


"We have not engaged Bear, Stearns or Goldman Sachs or anyone else," Siegel said. "We are contacted all the time by outside firms about getting involved in the sport.


"We are not for sale right now. Nothing is imminent."


A recent industry trend for Sprint Cup team owners is to collaborate with outside investment partners in the name of financial stability. Jack Roush partnered with John Henry's Fenway Sports Group. Michael Waltrip brought in Robert Kauffman. Ray Evernham sold majority ownership to George Gillett. Just last month Petty Enterprises, the industry staple since the sport's inception, sold majority ownership to Boston Ventures.


Is DEI next?


"Are we constantly weighing that as an option? Does that make sense? Quite frankly, we don't know," Siegel said. "Every team is looking for a way to bring in appropriate resources. Every single one.


"We haven't engaged anybody. People obviously approach us -- they're approaching everybody. We're looking to be around for a long time in future. We're feeling pretty damn good about where we're going, competitionwise."


Siegel was forced to approach his driving corps with assurance that the team is currently not for sale.

"I have assured them it's not true," Siegel said

Unfortunately I don't believe it, one thing I have learned the last few years in all sports is that once something is leaked or a rumor it is usually true and when they try to deny it then the next thing you know it is a done deal. Look at all the silly season stuff, you hear a driver wants to leave, he denies it, not too much time later they are gone (i.e. Stewart, Martin, etc...)

Yea, and back in 1994 the Browns weren't for sale either after the rumors started spreading....we all know how that ended.

I'm with ya juq...I don't believe it either that they aren't for sale. Because if they truely weren't, there wouldn't even be rumors.

This is pathetic, even for her...doesn't surprise me though. I really can't add anything to this conversation that hasn't already been said. I loved Dale Sr. and hate to see something like this happen to DEI....sad.....

my question is, what will happen to the name after it is sold, because everyone knows this is inevitable. This lady is a gold digging female dog, and Dale Jr. should have done something a long time ago.
