What is your job? How much do you spend on cards?

Have you ever walked into a Hobby Shop and seen a guy ripping open 4 or 5 $100+ boxes and wondered "what the heck does he do for a job?"

I dont know if everyone is just super loaded, am I shopping in the wrong places but geez this stuff isn't cheap.

So I am curious what everyone does for a living and about how much they spend on cards a week. Do you re sell it all on ebay, keep it.

So for my answer: I have been unemployed for 3 months, moved going back to school, but i still manage to spend around $20-30 a week of the wife's earnings..booyah!

This is a good thread and will get some nice replies. Good to hear what people do for a living. I myself work part-time at a bowling alley right now and I'm looking for full time work. Michigan is terrible for jobs right now. You are fighting with other over qualified people for jobs at places like McDonald's it is that bad.

During college got heavy back into collecting, nothing like using goverment financial aid on Box Breaks haha. After college I moved back home and got a decent job, so had tons of disposable income for cards since i had no rent or other expenses. I had to limit myself to one box every other week cause i was having too many $600 box break nights. Once my fiance' graduated and started her job as an engineer, i quit my job to move to another state with her. now i'm headed back to college to get my masters degree, living off her massive engineer income. i really dont spend much on cards anymore, since trading works to get rid of cards i dont like or need and let me concentrate on high end or PC cards or whatever my goal is for that time. I love breaking boxes but i found that i'd rather buy a really nice card on EBay that i love for $100 instead of pulling crap from a box and having tons of cards sitting around collecting dust. Now i'm working on selling off my collection....... I think.

Vrex it seems like we are in similar boat, I had my disposable income phase as a Casino dealer and am now living off the wife's RN income while i go back to school for a MBA.

herdy- I hear you, the job search is a tough one right now. We need some more of those stimulus checks.

    thanks for the responses guys.

I work as the Chief Programmer for a real estate law firm/legal document company. We have our own, in-house loan document system and I am help maintain the system and design legal documents to be used in real estate transactions.

I spend around $25-50 a week on cards, but trust me, it could be more. I make a nice salary and don't live beyond my means at all, but I'm divorced and have child support payments to make every two weeks as well as keep both of my daughters on my medical insurance. We all know how much medical insurance costs and because I don't work for a large company with 1000+ employees, our insurance rates are higher.

I buy a box or two every month or so (usually online, but sometimes I frequent my local shop) and I hit the two big Tri-Star shows here in Houston every year. I'll end up saving a month or two in advance and usually take around $700-1000 to spend at the big shows.

I work for a bread company and I have a route here locally. We purchase our routes from the company and all expenses are on us. I have done well with this company for the last 10 years. Bought a couple routes and built the sales up (we are straight commisions). Everybody needs bread! lol My wife has recently put me on a $150/week budget for cards because I was getting a little out of hand. lol My box breaking days are over as I have no luck with it. I have pissed away several hundreds of dollars for 10 minutes of excitement and months and months of disappointment now that I still sit here and look at all the crap I got.

I don't really have a job, I was reffing the Pee Wee football and soccer games when they were going on. Later this month though, I'll be reffing for the Club Soccer teams for the 9 and 10 year olds, which is 20 bucks a game. Of course, I'm 15 so I don't have a career yet. But I usually buy one or two packs a week. I'll stop by Walmart on Saturdays and get a pack or two of the two dollar UD Draft or Sage Hit and put the rest of my reffing money aside for buying cards on here or shipping cards out.

I average 25 or less a week...sometimes I can go for weeks but then plunk 200 on one which blows my average.
