    Well, it finally happened

After years of watching it happen to everyone else, it finally happened to me...

Someone got my credit card # and ran up a bunch of charges. Thankfully I have fraud protection and am not liable.

Found out the perp is in the UK. He's lucky he isn't in the U.S.

That stinks dude, it happened to me before and it feels like I was violated.

I accidentally left my debit card at a gas station, and some cashier decided to help herself to the tune of $300.

I never filed a police report, but my bank immediately gave me the funds back into my account.

That sucks that happened man, but at least you have the fraud protection. I get calls all the time from Capital One from eBay purchases just to make sure that it was me. It is a great feature to have for anyone and it doesn't cost anything.

Thats why fraud protection is so important if you are going to be making online transactions. Did they buy anything interesting?

Something from a UK-based website. Not sure what it was, but it was about $500.

Do you pay extra for fraud protection, or does it come with your card?

I ask because i dont know anything about fruad protection, and dont pay for it, but last year someone got my card number and racked up over $900 on the internet and i got all the money back no problem from my credit card company.

sooner or later, everyone is gonna get hit like this, crooks have more and more ways to get our numbers. its scary, and a pain, but as long as you get your money back and they dont steal your whole identity, its not that bad i guess.

No clue. I'm usually pretty careful about where I use my card. Couldn't have happened at a worse time though since I am going on TDY for 2 weeks on Monday. They said they'd overnight a new card to my hotel though.

Chaos, I'm working all my angles trying to get some info on this guy. If he's in the CONUS, he'd better hide.
