Saw it tonight... It was one of the greatest movies of this year! I'll keep this thread spoiler free for now. ;)

I was actually going to see it today. The tickets for the weekend have been sold out!
So, some guy walks up to me yesterday since I was chilling in the movie theaters, lol, and says, "I'll give you $200 for the tickets." (IMAX theater, so $15 a ticket and I had 2) and I said deal! I have money to get a box of cards now so I guess I'll see this movie when the crowds die down :)

I would have done that too. What a deal.
I'm hoping to go see it Sunday night if it isn't sold out by the time I leave work.
Dark Knight has broken three records already. One, screen count. Two, it made around 18 million midnight alone. Three, 66 million on Friday! Next record to beat is Spiderman 3's record of 150+ million for a weekend (Fri-Sun).

I know this might sound dumb...but what exactly is the Dark Knight? It looks like the same thing as Batman to me when I saw commercials for it on T.V., is it a sequel or something?

The only word I can think of to describe Heath Ledger in this movie is... Horrifying.

Sequel to the popular 2005 movie Batman Begins. Superhero movie pitting Batman vs The Joker (and I'm sure more to that in the film).

It's just tragic that Ledger's best performance was his last. Can someone win an Oscar postumously?
After Keaton's first Batman, I could easily have seen that series go in a direction like this, but they made the mistake of letting Batman Returns go all Burton-ized. After that, it was just a campy joke that got worse with every installment. Nice to see that both Marvel and DC are FINALLY trying to make comic book movies that bear some resemblance to the contemporary comics, not 70s cartoons. Sure, pity about that Ang Lee Hulk mess, but they've made up for that.
I'm really glad The Dark Knight was longer, rather than just chopping the movie into two sequels to get everything in. I'm also really glad that the studios are no longer afraid to make movies longer than 90-100 minutes.

Yes, they can. He could be nominated for Best Supporting Actor or even Best Actor. I didn't even recognize him until we was finally in jail (not a spoiler, it's in the previews). He psyched himself out in this part...very good job. And who knew that this pretty boy could do it??????
