nah, i think people would think he's a racist if he called a black person the N word...

First...most quotes are taken out of context and meant to be deceptive...without knowing what he said before or after, I cant really judge his intent, which is most important.

Also, #4 is invalid...everybody knows the rule...The only person allowed to talk bad about my mother is me! It's his mom, he can say what he wants...you know he loves her!

If you found anything Obama said offensive, I hope you find the following McCain quote offensive...

"I hated the ™™™™s. I will hate them as long as I live."

I don't find any of the quotes (be it Obaama or McCain) offensive at all. I don't really find ANYTHING offensive about ANYTHING that ANYONE says. In fact, I fully believe that taking offense to something someone says to or about you is a stark sign of insecurity and that the person taking offense is taking offense because maybe they also believe it to be a little true.

My point of posting those quotes wasn't to show how offended I was by Obama's comments... it was to point out that he is not this great uniter that he is making himself out to be and that he obviously holds some amount of animosity against white people.

And I also don't find McCain's comments to be offensive. With what he was put through I think he has every right to call them ™™™™s. I think if someone had you locked in a cage for five years and killed a bunch of your friends you'd probably hold a little animosity against them as well.

I'm tired of everyone being "offended" by everything. My problem with those quotes runs much deeper than being "offended." The fact that he said them means it's something he was thinking about and felt strongly enough to say it.

As for taking quotes out of context:

I don't want to know the context of that quote. That's pretty clear on what it means.

Back on subject:

If you're the type of person who seeks avidly for racism, you'll find it. However, when someone openly uses a racist term, it's pretty hard to turn a blind eye. In McCain's defense, he was only referring to those who captured him--not Vietnamese in general--but he could have used a more politically-friendly term.
