Team USA cards?
Anyone else feel that Topps or UD should release an exclusive Team USA set? A box with a 30ish card set and one material or autograph per box. All players in Team USA uniform, obviously. Perhaps we will see a set after the Olympics are over.

That's a great idea. Unfortunately, it probably would have to be a higher-end product considering they wouldn't be able to add scrubs or no-name players into the product.

True. If we take out autographs it wouldn't have to be. But it would be nice to be able to own a piece of the team USA jersey.

UD owns the rights to do this. We may see this after the Olympics in order to see how the team does considering USA's lackluster international showing over the past few years...

Good to know. Will probably collect the set if we win gold. But, knowing UD, it will likely be a high end box.

If they were smart, the would do like Hoops or Skybox (can't remember which) did back in 1992 and made like a decent set out of the twelve players. It was only like a $1 per pack back then and it featured each player on like 8-10 different cards and then the team photo... This would renew interest in international competition. As a side venture, make a set based on all the Olympic teams. Be nice to know more about the international players we have yet to see stateside...

i think a set with a card for every player on this years team (if we win gold) and a card for every player on the 92 team. insert autos and gu of the olympic teams from all time GU 1:3 autos 1:5. chance at jordan. chance at kemp. price it around 70$ and give away 4/5 of the set in the box.
also a set like the world baseball set would be cool. players from all over the world would be a fun collect. help spark international interest.

Unfortunately, USA sets don't seem to sell well anymore. 1992 was a frenzied year, but only hardcore hobbyists remember 1996 Fleer USA, 1996 Skybox Texaco, and 2000 Topps Team USA. My hobby store had three boxes of the latter until last year, when I bought two of them to put together the set.
