Wow..Beckett??
WOW..has anyone been on the NEW Online Beckett
?? Is it me or does it really STINK now..I mean..to get a listing literally takes TWICE as long..and for some reason I think they're COUNTING on that. I mean, what was wrong with the way it was?? The site is twice as slow now..and it's hell trying to navigate. Before you would just go to year...and card company..and you'd have the list.. pfff.. not now.. I think after my subscription is up...I'm OUT.
Anyone else seem to think the the Beckett OPG stinks..or heck..maybe it's just me??

The general consensus is just what you said. Can you search prices by player in the OPG just like before?

Beckett replies
I was checking out there message boards to see what the overall concensus was on it...as far as its members and what they had to say. Bout the same..lot of complaining but, suprisingly....quite a few SHEEP..as they were easily talked into "LIKING" the new site. One staff member in particular ..I think head of QA/QC..was a TOTAL JAG. He comes on pretty much belittling everyone and telling everyone "either like it or go".. WOW.. he pretty much made up MY decision...

I spent a decent chunk of this afternoon messing around with the Organize tool, seeing how easily I could reproduce my Trammell checklist with it. Although the capabilities of the tool are much more powerful than they used to be, the quality of implementation is not what I would expect from a hobby leader. As others have discussed, runtime is a definite issue; I got a steady diet of messages from Internet Explorer indicating that "a script" (i.e. the Organize page) was causing IE to run slowly while entering the checklist, to say nothing of the dead time while it performed updates to my list. After leaving the page open while I went walking in the afternoon, I returned home to find the page sucking away somewhere in the neighborhood of 1GB of memory, which had made re-entering Windows a bit of an adventure to find this out.
Having hits on a player search return top dealers is definitely a mistake from a collector's perspective (although great for top dealers since their items get showcased); for someone like me looking only for hard-to-get stuff, it makes performing an efficient search more or less impossible.
It will be interesting to see whether they are able to improve pure software issues like this. It would be unfortunate if in addition to being deaf to the feedback of their users they were also bereft of competent software designers.

It's all about the money w/them. And can you really believe the timing. I mean a lot of people are going through difficult times and they now decide to nickel and dime people. What a joke!

Hmmmmmmm
Hmmm...well..as far as I'm concerned..that's bogus. "WAY to take care of the hobbyist..young and old" Beckett
Well..anyway..anyone have any ideas on how we can bypass the cash machine(Beckett) and still keep up with the hobby?? I'd hate to think that Beckett has us over a barrel.

Just wondering
