As with all of our other official reviews, these cards will be made available to SCF members through contests, card cash store, and SASE.
Overall, this break leaves me with a good feeling. The base set design is crisp and unobtrusive and the rookie selection is very good. The base Topps product is one of the better sets to find your player or school of choice and with 110 total rookies there is good representation both at different positions and from different schools.
I found this box extremely fun to break as nearly every pack had something other than base set cards in them. Topps has done a good job in mixing insert sets from years past with fresh new ideas. The military service inserts in particular are refreshing.
I like the clean design but would like to see a little bit more variation from year to year. As always, the photography is excellent. This is an area I have come to expect Topps to shine in with this product.
At 50-60 dollars per hobby box Topps delivers good value. Along with getting a good portion of a base set you will receive a few dozen parallels and inserts. With this amount of non base cards in a box the chances of pulling a nice rookie parallel are good. I also like the fact that Topps is guaranteeing a relic or auto in every hobby box and 2 in HTA boxes. This only adds value to an already strong product.
I didn’t score rebuy quite as high due to the fact that this box contained 3 duplicates of non base cards. There was a duplicate in the military fans of the game insert set and 2 gold foil parallel duplicates. The insert set I’m not to concerned about as the overall set is only 11 cards and 5 others of the same type were pulled from this box. I chalk that up to that particular insert set being seeded higher than the others. On the other hand, the 2 gold foil parallel duplicates are less acceptable since the gold foils are a base set parallel there are 438 other possibilities so this points to a possible collation issue. Overall, if given the choice to buy another box given the results of this one I would buy another box.
Thank you to the fantastic people at Topps for the opportunity to review this product.Last edited by dallascisco; 08-13-2008 at 12:49 PM.

Yeah the military theme is pretty interesting, something I haven't seen done before and I'm sure the military folk really like it as well. Nice pull on the Aikman jersey!
