    Packers/Bengals on MNF!

I know it's preseason, but I was still excited for the game. After all the Favre leaving/Rodgers taking over hoopla, I was really expecting to see a thread already up on here...oh well, I'll get it started.

I know it doesn't count...but how about Aaron Rodgers? The kid looked sharp! Kornheiser, who was just waiting for him to fall on his face, couldn't find a bad thing to say about him. Most of his passes were spot on, at least 3 of the incompletions were perfect passes that the WR just dropped...including the Int that hit the guy in the exact middle of his chest and the play early on where Rodgers was getting hit on 3rd down but still threw a perfect strike to Driver at the 1st down marker only for him to drop it. I know it's far, far too early to say I told you so, but I'm extremely happy to see Rodgers perform well and show that he might not be as awful as everybody was saying he was.

His WRs made some great plays as well, which always helps. Ruvell Martin made a great catch behind the defender on a long pass and James Jones got smacked and lost his helmet, but stayed on his feet for the TD. They've got some explosive young WRs that will be fun to watch!

Brandon Jackson looked pretty good too. Had a couple of really good runs and looked very elusive, especially when he broke out of a tackle and ran for another 20+ yards. He'll be a nice backup or fill-in for Grant if he can stay healthy.

All in all, I think it looks like an exciting year to be a Packers fan. There'll be some bumps and growing pains I'm sure, but there's a lot of potential there...

I didn't pay much attention to the Bengals...I'll let somebody else handle that

I missed the game but thanks for summing that up. How were the backups?? Because if rodgers goes down they are gonna miss favre not only his skills but his experience also.

Actually, I only watched while Rodgers was in...I could only get so much out of my wife! From the little I did see, Brohm wasn't too impressive, but Flynn had a nice drive with a TD. Brohm was 8/17 w/1 INT and Flynn was 12/21 w/1 TD. I've read that Brohm hasn't been very impressive in camp either...hopefully he'll start catching on.

So all people could talk about for the past month was Favre leaving and how the Packers are going to be terrible w/Rodgers at the helm, but now nobody has anything to say after we've seen him play? I wanted to hear some opinions on the game and if it eased any worries...

well, yes it was a good quarter by rodgers. but still remember this is the preseason, and i would recommend him not throwing that many passes per quarter throughout the game. i will be more anixous to see his first regular season game, and so will most everyone else probably. also i don't think that the bengals had there starting defense out there the whole time rodgers was out there, but correct me if i'm wrong

Not sure about how long the starting D was in...but Bengals starting D isn't really that tough of a test anyway, if last year was any indication.

And he won't throw that much in the regular season...since this was just a practice, they just wanted him to get enough throws in since he was only in for a quarter or so.

And yeah, I know it's still preseason and it isn't the same...I'm very excited about the first game against the Vikes. What a way to start the season! Two of the most interesting teams of the year squaring off right out of the gate!
