    Buying My First Box

    Hey guys,

I'm looking to purchase my first Football Hobby Box. I'm not really sure what's hot, coming over from the Baseball side of things. Basically, I'd like to start buying boxes of cards that I have the potential to pull something from of a high BV. My question for you guys is, what's the best box to purchase to pull something with a high BV? My price range is anywhere up to $250 per box. I'm planning on purchasing a box or two tomorrow, so anything that's soon coming out won't do. Thanks in advance for all the help.

    Kaiser

Stadium Club allows for some good hits? Not really sure who's cards are hot right now. What would I be looking for in that box?

Threads is nice too. Stadium Club was hot when it first came out in b-ball this past year. but quickly faded. Starting to see the same thing here

In almost any box you are looking for mcfadden, felix jones, ray rice....etc. basically rookie autos. also super star autos are good such as brett farve and tom brady

With any box purchase, you will find that no matter what the best product is, unless you actually pull something out of it, it can be worthless. You can buy a $50 box and pull a Peyton Manning auto and you'd think that was the best product, or you could buy a box of exquisite and pull nothing and think that is the worst product.

I would stay away from TSC, the stuff looks TERRIBLE. The stickers are gross! I think that will be one of the worst products of the year imo.

If I had $250 to spend, I'd pre-order a box of 2008 Playoff absolute or SPx, both are in the 125-160 range and will have a hit per pack. They are always popular every year with the certain themes they do. Again this is just my opinion.

Nice reply Ryo, I agree with you on TSC, except the photography on the base cards is pretty good. Otherwise, the jerseys are ugly, the sticker autos are ugly, bad overall.

To the OP, if I were you and just getting into football, Ryo's box suggestions are excellent.

Agreed the photography is excellent. The regular rookie auto's look like custom cards that someone cut a hole out and put a sticker in it.

The beam teams look alright, but still not as good as the bkb did.

I just don't like the way this product looks now its live. If I am going to spend $150 on a box of cards, I want something that looks nice and that will retain value.

I would get a box 2008 Donruss Threads , 2008 Donruss Classics and like 3 packs of 2008 stadium club or a box of 2008 Donruss Classics and a box 2008 Press Pass Legends. Some pretty good hits have come from all the boxes.
