    Fantasy Draft

2nd year in fantasy football. Only had one team last year and it was with my friends at $5 a person in a 10 team league. Won my league last year thanks to some key pick ups at the end of the season. I'm doing multiple teams this year but am really only focusing on the league with my friends. 10 team league. It is an ESPN Standard league. 1 Qb, 2 RB, 1 Rb/WR, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 ST/DE. I had the 3rd pick. Please lmk how you think I did:

QB: Tony Romo (no intentions of getting him but he was the best available in round 3. Number 23 overall pick)

RB: Brian Westbrook (3rd overall. Definitely happy with this. I would have taken him over AP with the number 2 pick)

RB: Darren McFadden (Was not planning on this one either. He fell to me in the 4th round as the number 38 overall pick. Best value available and if he turns out to be a stud then I'm set. If not i have back up)

RB: Thomas Jones (Planned on taking him late as I feel he will be big this year with an improved Jets O-Line and a more spread out passing attack. Number 43 Overall Round 5).

WR: Reggie Wayne (Very Happy with this. I feel he will be AMAZING this year as the Colts #1 recieving option. 2nd round pick #18 overall)

WR: Hines Ward (Can't remember which round but I thought it was a good pick up. He was tone of he best available in about the middle of the draft. There were others ranked above him but they were QB's that I didn't need. Can't go wrong with a 1st string WR with Big Ben at QB)

TE: Tony Gonzalez (value pick later in the draft. Mr. Consistent at his position)

DEF/St: Colts (I change my def/st every week based on match ups. This helped me to win last year)

K: Adam Vinateri (Change this position every week as well based on match ups)

    Bench:

Wr: Lavarneus Coles (just in case he manages to click with Brett Favre. Plus im a jets fan)

Wr: Joey Galloway (I'm a sucker for first string recievers. Plus he put up some great games last year...and some bad ones as well. Worth the risk to me. Value late in the draft)

RB: Ahman Green (Not sure why. Just grabbed him as there was not much this late in the draft. Maybe he'll tke the starting spot and I can trade him for some value)

TE: Jeremy Shockey (Drew Brees as a QB in a high Octane offense. Enough said)

RB: Leon Washington (Sleeper pick. And look at my username. Can't pass up)

RB: Ricky Williams (Super Sleeper pick. From Dolphins camp reports he appears to be working extremly hard and if Ronnie Brown struggles with his knee, then Ricky could be very valuable)

WR: Antwaan Randle El (What ever pick. Not much else this late. Maybe he can put up solid numbers like he did in Pittsburgh).

Overall I think I did pretty well. I will likely be dealing galloway, coles, or shockey etc. in order to get another RB in case D-Mac Tanks. How do you think I did?

HA. When I saw Thomas Jones as your 3rd back I wondered in you took Leon and I scrolled down and my questions were answered. Pretty solid team especially if McFadden plays well.

Hmm...WRs are old or shaky all across the board with the exception of Wayne. I would've passed on Romo in the 3rd and taken a top end receiver. There would have been plenty of value in the later rounds.

james- haha yeah. Definitely had to grab leon.

mackstradamus- agreed. However if just one of them remains stable for the year and is able to put up numbers like they do when healthy then I should be ok.

I would have waited on Romo, but not a bad pick. Westbrook and Thomas Jones I like, McFadden could be great, but should be pretty good at least. Wayne is good, I'd like to have a better 2nd WR than Ward, but not bad. TE, D, and K are fine. I like Coles, Shockey and Ricky Williams on the bench...any one of those may end up starting for you before the season is over, lot's of potential in good situations. Galloway is decent, Washington is a good handcuff, but Ahman and Randle El are probably pretty useless. Overall, I'd say a pretty good team with the potential to be really good.

I like Cotchery over Coles in New York. No question in my mind he'll be Favre's top target.

    DieHard-Thanks dude

OnePimpTiger- Thanks. I would have waited longer on the Romo pick but with the positon I had there was no one on the board that I really liked. Romo did well for me last year so I just grabbeDefinitely took williams coles and shockey based on their potential. Hoping for a break out some where. Ahman and Randle El were pretty much useless but there was nothing else that late so I figured why not.

Mack- I definitely agree there. Cotchery was gone though by the time I would have picked him. As a Jets fan Ive seen a ton of potential out of Cotch. He could be a big time threat.

Surprising Cotch went above Coles. I haven't seen that too often.

There's a lot of talk about David Clowney right now, but I'm not really buying into it. If he does something, I'll take a spin and hope I get him on the waiver wire, but to hell with using a draft pick on him.

I find myself being too in love with putting Jones and Washington on my rosters this year, especially post-Favre. I feel like the offensive line is shored up nicely, and now that Favre's whipping the pill all over the place, that should really open up the run game. Both Thomas Jones and Leon Washington are hands down more talented than Ryan Grant, and look what he did last year.
