    Michael Phelps: A Bad Investment?

I know Michael Phelps will go down as the greatest Olympian of all-time. But I have seen his autographed cards selling for a lot of money. These are obviously selling at a high price right now, but will likely get cut buy 75% or more a few months after the Olymics.

I found a "Fans of the Game" Phelps auto selling for $400, $433 and even $499 . I've even seen base cards selling for $50!

Personally, I think these are terrible investments. Wait a few months and you will get them at 75% of the price.

My dad has been buying Michael Phelps cards like crazy. He must have bought at least 20 of them. He's going to flip them and make probably triple profit to be honest. These cards would be absolutely stupid to buy if you're going to keep them. Profit wise it's great if you bought them for less than they're selling for now which is what he did.

Insane. One auto Phelps is over $500 with 6h 10mins left.

Of course it is a bad investment now. Would've been a GREAT investment before the games.

Long-term I'd say he is a bad investment...you should be selling him now, not buying him. If you don't already have him, he won't be worth what people are charging for him now for much longer.

He is a horrible investment now. If you had bought 15 of those puppies 2 years ago and are selling now you are smart.

You could've bought a fans of the game auto for $300 after he won his first medal and sold it for $700. Just as long as you're finding good deals on them and they're selling for more than you bought them for. I'll ask him how much he makes after he flips them. The value is going to hold for a decent amount of time.
