Yankees Game August 17th
I took my girlfriend to the Yankees-Royals game this past Sunday for her birthday. She loves the Yankees as much as I do so I splurged for some really good seats. I got them at face value too which is almost unheard of these days. She was impressed with the view, amazed that people came to take your order, happy that the seats were cushioned, and ecstatic when Johnny Damon started signing. I gave her the one ball we brought in with us and she ran down the few rows to where Damon was signing. Johnny Damon grabbed her ball and signed it for her, the last autograph he gave before the game started. No other Yankee made the effort. I'm not sure who signed earlier as we got in just in time to see the last few Royals take BP.
Overall it was a great day, despite Yankee Stadium security telling my girlfriend that her camera bag was a knapsack (despite it having "Canon" on the bag and being filled with camera equipment). We had to go back to the car and return the bag, only to see other people allowed in with similar bags or even bigger bags. I am tired of being treated like a freaking terrorist when I enter a baseball game. They checked the bag and that should be good enough. I did not go a few thousand miles to fight in Iraq only to come home to be treated like a terrorist in my own backyard because of a camera bag. A big thanks to Johnny Damon though for turning the whole day around.

He was the only one. I can understand some players not signing all the time but it is a known fact that most Yankees refuse to sign at any time. I can understand their not wanting to sign a lot because they are always asked for autographs but once in a while, even one or two would be a huge difference. Since 1995, I have seen Jeter sign 2 autographs out of 30+ times I have seen him. A-Rod, I have never seen him give one. I have seen Damon sign every game I went to, with the exception of last years playoff game which I arrived 1 batter in to the first inning. Some guys care about fans, others don't.

I think that baseball players should all sign just because of their fans

From the end of Royals batting practice until the end of the game only Damon signed...don't know about others during Yankee batting practice.

Did you still get some good pics or did you have to leave the camera behind?

She got some amazing pics. She has a ridiculous lens that showed the detail on Jose Molina's sunglasses under his mask. She got shots of A-Rod's homer, Giambi's grand slam and a bunch of others. She carried the camera in around her neck. Risky but worth it. Over 300 pictures of pure quality. She might be putting some up for sale on ebay and we will definitely be using them as future den decorations.
