when it comes to buying cards, go with your gut.
If it feels right and your OK with spending the money....then buy it.
If it just don't feel right in your gut and you are not comfortable with the purchase.....then walk away.
Just remember this simple phrase:
It's a hobby of passion...not profit!!

How BADLY do you want THAT card?? Do you just want to buy it and be done with it or are you patient?
Are you loyal to the local card shop? Supporting them's great but there's a line - $20 cash out the door and I'd probably do it. $25 I'd pass (personally) or wait a couple weeks and go back to see if he'll go down. That's me, but if you want to buy it/have it and be done with that so you can move on with something else for your collection/pc buying it sure takes care of that. :) Otherwise, does he trade at all? Presuming it's in VG condition, a 1972 card in VG is 20% of book (=$35 in this case). You could come with that approach.
However, I've seen some pretty nice ones go for about $25 on eBay (and creased ones for less). A really nice one goes for a little more, but that means you wait and watch and wait...
GOOD LUCK!
