New Voter and currently a swing vote
Hey everybody,
Let me first introduce myself I'm an 18 year old sort of new on the site came over after the Beckett boards changed for the worst. Completed a few trades on here, but alas I've run out of time and money to trade, because I will be attending College shortly. I like the board a lot and figured I'd continue to frequent it and use this sub forum as reason to come back. I am a registered voter and consider myself an Independent. I will have an absentee ballot processed in the state of Michigan, however, I have no idea who to vote for, which is another reason why I have decided to come to this section of the boards.
Right now, both candidates seem like pretty poor choices to me, from what I've heard about Mccain his priorities don't seem to match mine and from his treatment of his first wife he seems rather unscrupulous. In addition to this I don't think that he will make a strong enough effort to fund the finding of alternative fuel sources. Barrack Obama on the other hand doesn't seem tough enough when it comes to foreign policy and I fear two things if he were to become the President one that we'd get involved in Darfur and second that he'd appease Russia, with regards to their recent threats of nuclear retaliation if we were to build our missle defense base in Poland as already agreed too. I do agree with him that raising taxes seems to be the right way to fix our current deficit.
Basically in short what I am trying to say here is as the members of this board are supporters for both parties and as I can imagine are arguing amongst themselves about the election now is your chance to make a real difference and effect a real vote. So if you would be so kind please make a case for the candidate you are voting for come November and if you make it strong enough you may add another supporter.
Thank you, Hail to GWU

You sound like me. It's a choice between two undesirables. I enjoy more freedoms, lower taxes, and less government, so I'll be voting for McCain.

Don't rely on others to make your vote for you. Do your own research on policies, agendas, etc.
There's my advice.

Very nice intro! The previous two posters are very opposite, but very intelligent when it comes to politics. As Dave said, do some research and hopefully you will find the right person to vote for. I recommend looking at the Library of Congress to see their voting records and senate.gov.
I will be voting for McCain even though I can name at least three Democrats I would vote for over him; Joe Lieberman, Evan Bayh and more recently Jim Web. Both parties are not offering up their best candidates in my opinion. We definitely deserve better!
