Any Computer Experts Here?
so my computer is pretty much dead i think?
2 days ago, i noticed the cord that charged the computer was getting pretty hot, so i thought what changed? well my brother plugged in his fan adding one more plug into our extension cord. so i took it out and it immedaitly cooled down. well yesterday, same thing, and told him not to plug it in because it was overheating, the cord shows when you plugged it in it was charging, (it changes blue when you plug it in, and works) well it was doing that, but it was not charging? it was on zero percent battery and not charging but still didnt shut off? well my brother turned off the computer after telling him no, and today it wouldnt turn on, i tried everything it will not turn on. its not the cord, cause i plugged it into my brothers cpu and it charges it. anyone know what could be wrong? is it a falty battery? something inside the computer? i'm really mad because thats the only computer with the software to use my scanner, plus it has my itunes, aim etc.
any help would be great!

It sounds like a faulty battery or a your system overheated.. Wait another day and see if that helps and if that doesn't work try to take it into best buy or a computer repair store that has your battery. Explain that you want them to test the laptop first while you are there before you commit to buying the new battery as you need to figure out the financial side.

thanks for the insight! my mom has a guy at work who is really good with computers and when she goes to work next week, she plans on taking it in, i dont think it overheated because i unplugged it after noticing it really quickly, but apparantly HP computers are not the best since this is the second one in 2 years that have had problems with.

Start cheap. Replace the battery and go from there. Or just bring it in the the Geek Squad or something.

My mom used to work at bestbuy and she told me a new battery is about 100 dollars. That is why I suggested trying to find a place that would test your battery for free and see if that is the source of the problem.
If the battery is an issue it won't affect your memory as all files on the system are stored on your hard drive.. The battery is just a power source and nothing else.

the computer was bought at best buy so i'm sure they'll test it, i would think if the battery died, it wouldnt even show that the blue light was on, but i dont know that much about the issue, it hadnt like slowly died, it just randomly started to not work
