here is my issue with it. I don't want to hear any candidate (I would have said this about bush in 2000) say that they are going to spend time, effort, and energy, investigating the previous administration. That doesn't need to be on the agendy IMO.

also, random question. Why are so few people willing to say they side with a particular party? I see a lot of people here who keep claiming they aren't party affiliated when their loyalty is obvious given the posts they make. Now, I have no problem saying I am a republican. That doesn't mean I can't vote for an independent or a democrat and in fact there are a few I would vote for. It just means, that I primarily side with the republican agenda. Why is that hard?

(side note): I am not claiming there are no independents on here. I know a couple of you are. But the majority seem to hold on to their independent tag when it doesn't fit anymore.

I'm sorry if I seem extreme on this issue. I want a President that cares about corruption on both sides of the isle. It will start with the President and then go from there. Obama will likely have a Democratic Senate and House. They will control all the hearings. Obama will have the executive branch, the legislative branch and likely the judicial branch when 1-2 Supreme Court judges retire during his term.

That is what scares me. Democrats will control all 3 branches of government and their will not be a check or balance. Obama has specifically stated he will go after Bush, which means to me he will be biased in who his DOJ investigates and who the senate committees bring in front of them.

    Very scary times.

You mean like what Republicans had from 2000-2006?

No offense Mike, I respect what you've done for this site, but your political view are terribly biased. Even if you are against Obama, take off the blinders and look at everything.

I know I might seem biased towards the Dems but believe me, I do not like some of their "plans" either!
The mere fact that they plan on increasing the Earned Income Cedit for lower income to me has an adverse effect. It stimulates more and more people to work less.
The reluctancy to allow drilling for oil in US territory is a no-no to me as well!
How about Obama's plan to stimulate unionizing more and more? I believe unionizing will be another nail in our current economies coffin!
And there is more, believe me.

Mike, there are "good" democrats as well! :) Take Ben Nelson (D - Neb)! He's not afaid to leave Nancy Pelosi's (radical) party line and vote for what's best for the US!
An absolute majority might not always mean that they al will vote with party line, and thus restoring "checks and balance".

to continue the trend: I'm scared, very scared...that people actually believe this bull. This is obviously a cheap attempt to get votes..."hey, you hate bush? We do too...if you vote for us, we'll put him in jail!" the same thing will happen as with the whole impeachment thing: Nothing! If bush could be successfully prosecuted, don't you think the democrat-controlled congress that has already tried to impeach him would be all over that? Why wait when it could be done now?...this is a sad, lame attempt and would be comical if so many naive people didn't actually believe it.

If a president wants to pardon himself before he leaves office, there needs to be some investigating going on IMO

As for me, I am a registered Independent. I don't even know what that means really, but I registered this way back in 2000 when I turned 18 because I didn't really know what either side was about....and I still don't! I think both parties have their flaws and both candidates have flaws (as all humans do)....

I see both sides of a lot of arguments, and don't think I particularly fit into one category....I agree with some things Republicans believe and I believe some things Democrats believe.... I've voted for both parties about equally in local & state elections....I considered registering as a Republican this year so I could vote for Ron Paul in the primaries because he was the candidate I agreed with more than any other....so maybe I lean Republican, but I've been called a Democrat by both mikesilvia and daniel on here, so who knows...

Maybe I need to find one of those quizzes that ask you certain questions to see where you line up....but I don't see the point in agreeing with certain points from both sides and calling myself one or the other

Maybe we should start our own party? Are you with me? :)

    No offense taken!

I put my bias right out in the open and never claim to be unbiased. I debate with members as equals. When I'm in this political forum I am just a regular member. I do not attack members personally.

I do not have blinders. I start my research with Google news and review several aspects of each story. I have read Obama's and McCain's newest books. Read through some of my posts over the last few months and you will see I have pointed out my favorite Democrats like Evan Bayh, Ford Jr and Jim Webb. I believe that MOST Democrats are good people, but their party has been hijacked by San Francisco and liberal politicians. When Democrats offer up middle of the road Democrats like Truman and JFK, you will see me voting Democratic in many elections.

Mike, there are "good" democrats as well! :) Take Ben Nelson (D - Neb)! He's not afaid to leave Nancy Pelosi's (radical) party line and vote for what's best for the US!

100% agree. Why do you think there are more registered Democrats in the south, but Republicans win every year? If the Democratic party actually put conservative Democrats like Evan Bayh on a ticket I would vote for him over McCain. But keep giving me Gore, Kerry and Obama and I become very biased.
