    Daunte Culpepper retires from NFL

Unable to land a starting or backup job this offseason, Daunte Culpepper announced his retirement at the age of 31.

Culpepper had one-year offers from the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason for backup jobs, but didn't find those offers suitable. Though his surgically reconstructed knee was healthy and his arm still strong during visits to those teams, Culpepper decided to end his career.

Wow...I thought Baltimore was gonna sign him...

Wow. He gave the Vikings hope for a SB for a couple of great years (with help from Moss and Carter and Reed). Too bad he never really came back after the knee. Figured he would at least sign on as a backup and maybe get another chance to start one day.

It's amazing how fast the great can fall in the NFL...the reason he hasn't been signed is he wants too much money. That's why Pitt signed Leftwich instead. He wants starter money and a chance to be the starter.

Should have been willing to take a backup role....at the very least someone gets hurt and gives him a chance to show he still has something left. I guess in his case he still thinks he is the same player from a couple of yrs ago.

I remember a couple years ago when he was the king. It was him and McNabb and now look what has happened to them.
