Quoting eBay

In cruising the various boards, it has come to my attention that a lot of members are selling (which there is nothing wrong in doing that). I just wanted to provide some helpful hints to avoid any irritation between buyer/seller.

When quoting sales from eBay, it is wise to quote more than one purchase whenever possible. Just because the same card sold for $30 in one auction, doesn't mean that's what the card is selling for. A better test is to use 4 or 5 auctions and the average is a better gauge.

Auctions get skewered all the time. Misconceptions about 1/1 also drive up the selling price of a card. Never quote an auction that may seem like a 1/1 if it really isn't. A player's jersey number in the s/n is not a 1/1. The first or last s/n is not a 1/1. The only card that is a 1/1 is one that is stamped that way on the card.

Also, another thing to keep in mind is player collectors drive up the price of a card in auctions. Someone who is trying to collect certain players may realize their only chance to get particular cards is to buy them via eBay. Therefore, they are forced to bid high on cards they otherwise would avoid.

Finally, the most important rule, just because someone paid $30 on eBay doesn't mean anyone here will. The cards are yours to sell at whatever price you want, but don't force a sell price down the throat of someone. Once you get that type of rep, you can virtually forget selling cards on here.

One other thing I would like to add, if you are going to use Ebay as your "guide" to go by, use it for everything. You got a Leftwich that books at $120, and sells all day at $150....so you trade/sell the Leftwich at $150....fine...no problems here........but, you need to take that Joey Galloway that books at $20 but only sells for $2 and trade it at that.........$2......if you are going to do it for high end, do it for ALL of it....if you don't, don't be throwing no "ebay values" my way. JMHO...it only seems fair that way..........

No it's just a way to try and head off some of the problems we've noticed.....
