Old school box break 1981 fleer and 1994 leaf

Man I was feeling good opening this 1981 box of Fleer.

a box of 1981 fleer contains 38 packs, 17 cards to each pack.
While there isnt any huge rookies in this set, there are a few
Kirk Gibson, Fernando Valenzuela, Danny Ainge.
This is a Great box to open and pull fresh H.O.F.ers from.
Before I opened the box, I decided to save two packs.
N ow after opening three packs, I noticed you could tell
what player was on the back of a pack by lightly sliding your
finger across it, So I decided before opening a pack I would
do so in selecting the two packs to save.
If I were selling these packs I would never check the back
to see what player was on it.
I found my two packs to save one with Jim Palmer on the back
and one with Phil Niekro on the back.

Man theres so many great baseball players in here, I made some
scans to show the best cards but theres many great cards of good players.

I picked this box up for around 40.00 Dont think it was too bad,
now some cards preferably the front cards with the gum are not that nice luckily there was only one great player on the top of a pack "Andre Dawson" noticed on the backs of some packs the bottom card was damaged, dont know if the gum from the pack below could have hit the back border edge a few were discarded due to that.

Otherwise a great product to open,also bought (2) 1994 leaf jumbo boxes on ebay thinking they might yield some decent leaf gamers, worst boxes ever to open. Donruss/Leaf poorly packaged the cards and most stuck together due to the packs being sealed tight, I had a horrible time trying to salvage a few cards, got to watch two Mattingly leaf gamers go to the trash because they were horrible. I think the over round best insert condition wise was a Manny Ramirez Leaf God Rookies that wasnt stuck or screwed up in how it was sealed in the pack, I bought both boxes for 10.00 and would never buy another one, wouldnt give a 1.00 for a box again.

I remember opening those as a kid. 1981 fleer is a fun rip. Cheap and don't forget all those errors.

I was curious how close ya get on the 1981 fleer from a complete set as well how many of the small hand backs ya get and did check to see if you had any of the errors from the set and I too remember getting them out of the packs back in 1981 and also back in 1996 at a shop I normally go to had a contest on them and one of the things was if anyone could chew the gum from a pack of those and blow a bubble with that gum they would get an $250 shopping spree needless to say I did it not bad tasting after 15 years then I rinsed out my mouth with a nice pepsi to prevent sickness well thats my post nice pulls as well.

Wow man, that gum mustve been like chewing tree bark. Awesome story, what else did you get with the spree? Oh ,.
I think im pretty close to a set from that 1 box, although about 40 cards are damaged due to gum stain and some of the back of cards were slightly damaged for some reason. all in all I got about 5 duplicates from the box and havent checked for errors yet, the hands , the name in blue or mispelled names. i'll check and get back with you.
