This article makes a lot of good points about Obama's campaign's attacks on Palin. Obama's trying to connect with the working class, but belittles Palin because she's from a small, working class town. They've been drawn into a (valid) debate about whether Obama, the Democratic Presidential nominee, has as much experience as Palin, the Republican Vice President nominee. They've blatantly disrespected her by calling her "former Mayor" when she is a sitting Governor. They've made a lot of false claims about her administrations.

BUT this is why I posted this article:

When she retaliated (justifiably) by mocking his stint as a organizer, the Obama camp was clearly rattled. Obama himself actually began arguing about the importance of community organizing. His supporters amplified this cry - claiming Palin's attack was a racist slur and passing around e-mails titled "Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor."

Wow...comparing Obama to Jesus and Palin to Pilate. And Democrats get mad when people say Obama is being painted as the new messiah, but his own campaign has no problem perpetuating that belief. I was in complete shock when I read that...I know politicians and campaigns sling dirt and make outrageous claims, but that is an absolutely ridiculous comparison and I'm sure I'm not the only person that takes major offense to it.

Maybe you should have said something too when Mike compared Obama/Biden's ideas to Stalin's actions.
Would have made your outrage here more believable......

I disagreed with Mike's comparisons, but to me, this is a little more egregious. Comparing someone to a murderous dictator is one thing, comparing them to Jesus is quite another.

That aside, my feelings aren't the point here...I'm happy to take my opinion out of it and let the facts speak for themselves.

Well, Jesus is widely seen as the savior of all mankind....it's a little larger scale. At the very basic level, Stalin is human and Jesus is not. Also, Mike posted his personal opinion on a trading card forum...Obama's people sent out official emails as representatives of Obama.

BUT, if you think they're equal comparisons, fine....then you're just as outraged by this as you were by Mike's comparison.

I find it funny that the Stalin point comes out. I still stick by it. Trying to purge your opponents was a Stalin technique. Both Biden and Obama state that they will focus their Department of Justice ONLY on the Bush Administration. That is the first time in history I have seen that in America; specifically going after the former President. Even Nixon was not investigated by Jimmy Carter when Carter took office after Ford. Nixon was pardoned by Ford, but not for every crime. President Bush could have went after Bill Clinton in 2000, but he didn't.

I stick by my point as Obama and Biden have stated they will specifically target Republicans and that is un-American to target only the opposition party, much like Stalin. I NEVER once stated Obama would kill millions if elected like Stalin.

If you are a Democrat, wouldn't you be scared if Bush sent his DOJ only after Democrats, specifically President Clinton after the 2000 election?

Here is exactly what I said:

"Isn't this what Stalin did? Send his lawyers and soldiers after the opposition party while ignoring his own?"

Is that not what Stalin did? Isn't that what Obama is saying he will do? There are Democrats getting caught with $90,000 in their freezer and Detroit Mayors going to jail and Obama ignores that and focuses on the opposition party. He was a supporter and fund raiser for the Detroit Mayor!

I understand and agree with the basic principle of your comparison. But there are a lot of aspects of Stalin that comes along with the comparison that doesn't apply to Obama, which is where the problem comes in. You're saying "Obama doing this is like Stalin doing that"...but it somewhat implies and people read "Obama is like Stalin," which isn't completely true.

Let's get back to the point of the thread: Obama's campaign compared him to the savior of mankind and Palin to the person who let him be killed by the masses. Or hell, I'm up for talking about any of the other points in the article...which is here in case anybody forgot.

I'd like to see the original article (and I don't me the op ed piece from the Post) or the email that came from Obama's camp making the Jesus and Pilate comparison. Do you have it?

I'm not sure what original article you're talking about and, no, I don't have the email from Obama's camp...I don't get many emails from them

I know this isn't proof of anything and I'm not claiming it as such, but do a Google search of "Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor". It's absolutely ludicrous how people have jumped on this. They should be ashamed of themselves.
