Took some tests for a human resources position..
I'm hoping I can get it. This would be my first job. It's been four months since I left graduate school, so I'm hoping for something regular to do now.
The tests were administered by an employment agency. I did well on all of them except for the filing test. They were most impressed with my typing test (90 words per minute without errors).

Damn.. I can type about 130 WPM but the errors are atrocious. I go about 3 to 4 words before I have to hit the backspace key.
Best of luck to you Khendra. HR seems like the perfect position for you.

No vocab tests. Of the skill-evaluation tests, they had alphanumeric data entry, basic data entry, typing, computerized filing, MS Word skills, and MS Excel skills (I have rarely used Excel and was surprised at how well I did on it). The other two tests were personal evaluations designed for ideal job placement.

Update: I did not get the position as filing and high sociability were the skills they were primarily looking for in the human resources job, but the screening revealed that I would make an excellent transcriptionist, court reporter, etc. working primarily in an independent fashion. This is good insight that I will be able to use in applying for future job positions, so I do not consider this turndown a total loss at all.

Before you decide on being a transcriptionist maybe you should talk to my wife. She went through school for it. Working for a Docs office can be almost impossible. If you want to talk to her, pm me and I will send you the number for my home.
