What are the main Rookie Cards for Football?

Hey guys I dont collect football cards but am a huge fan. My team is the Buffalo Bills. Id like to grab a Trent Edwards autographed rookie card before the prices get out of range for me.

Just lookin for a autograph'd card no jersey or anything on it. Collecting hockey theres a select few but when I went on ebay there were just so many different kinds I wasnt sure. So maybe you can help me out by posting maybe a top 5 of what brand and series to look for.

I was lookin at this one..

TRENT EDWARDS 2007 SP AUTHENTIC AUTO SIGN OF TIMES (but the sideways autograph is sort of a turn off)

2007 CHIROGRAPHY TRENT EDWARDS RC AUTOGRAPH 85/299 (I like the look)

I notice alot of bowman chrome and topps chrome brand rookie cards for him.

I know for hockey SP Authentic is one to go with not sure about football. Thanks

Well the 2 you listed aren't his true rookies. Their inserts, his SPA rc is an Autographed/Patch. If you just want a Auto try Bowman Chrome, Topps Chrome or Playoff Contenders. If he has a Topps Rookie Premiere Auto those are nice. The high end Auto Patches would be Exquisite, Nationals Treasures and SPA if you change your mind.

IMHO, the best rookie cards to own are:

    Low end: Topps Chrome

    Mid range: SP Authentic

    High end: Exquisite Signature Patch

Trent Edwards is on the verge of breaking out, if I were you I'd go big and pick up an Exquisite while they're still under 200 bucks.

Here are some of his top RCs that you might be able to get. These are all true rookies.

    2007 Playoff Contenders auto
2007 SP Authentic patch auto /725
    2007 Donruss Elite rookie /599
2007 Leaf Limited auto/patch /99 (patch window says "RC")
    2007 topps chrome rookie

Hope that helps. I would say go for the contenders auto, it is pretty decent priced and will definitely jump in value.
