like a sports reporter on tv just said...how many of us can just not show up for work 1 day and not call in or let them know anything and still have a job or not be punished to some degree...

I think he needed to be punished in some way,But not only are you turning this into a bigger issue by suspending him for 2 weeks you are hurting his teammates by taking their best wide receiver out of a game.Other players have used drugs and been involved in alot of situations that were worse than this,So I'm saying 2 weeks seems rather harsh.take care Steve

You're joking, right? I suppose not bothering to show up for practice doesn't hurt his teammates, right? The guy is a tool and got what he deserved. The team suspended him, not the NFL, because the team felt he deserved a suspension. He's only going to miss 1 game since they have this week off.

While I agree that it MIGHT hurt the Giants that he will miss a game it could potentially mean that someone else steps up and fill the gap with a good performance.

There was language in his new contract about tardinesss and unexcused absences based on his history. If he would have made one simple call it would be nothing. That is all they asked was for a phone call. If some family emergency happens. Guess what America. You have to call work to let them know you are not going to be in unless you are incompacitated to do so. You can not just not show up. People forget this is a job as well as a privledge to be in the NFL. Nobody is bigger then the team they are on or league. Imagine the mutiny if people could come and go all the time based on child having a cold or soem other fabricated reason just to not be there. Some of these guys do not like film sessions and hitting the weights on Monday. He is one of them

Agreed guys I know most of the regular everyday people like myself would most likely be fired if I took 2 days off without even getting in touch with my company. With that being said I guess I jumped the gun on my decision of them being too harsh,But I also wouldn't be losing about I think they said something like 230,000 dollars in salary.I guarantee he'll think twice about doing it again,What's really more frustrating is the giants just gave him a new big money contract to keep him satisfied.Take care Steve
