Storing sets in 9 slot sheets

I have a question. When you are building sets and storing the cards in the 9 slot sheets do you put a single card in or double them up? I have always doubled them up because that way they don't slide out if moving the books around.

Do you also put penny sleeves around them if just using the single card method?

A bit of advice...never double up cards in the sheets...

Why?

Because you are more likely to damage the cards when trying to slide in the second card. The best thing to do is keep them in singles and use tape to seal a bit of the opening. You never know when you'll want to reuse those sheets and doubling them will stretch out the pocket...

I understand completely. Never thought of it that way, but I am not going back thru my 19 complete sets and put them in singly. From now on I will use single cards per slot. I still have like 10 complete sets that have been sitting around for years to put in sheets.

Here's what I used to do:

I'd put star cards singly in each pocket; then I'd put the commons back to back in each pocket.

That saved me from having to buy lots of sheets

but, like Enigma said, put 2 cards in one pocket can cause damage to the corners of the cards.

But, I've found that if I put both cards and slide both of them into the protector at the same time, there won't be damage.

I did this to a bunch of commons I had, left it in a large folder, went to college for 4 years, and when I came back, the cards still had sharp corners without damage.

I suppose if you put cards back to back in a pocket, as long as you don't constantly take it in and out, the cards probably won't be damaged

I just put a penny sleeve on the card before I put it in the 9-pocket page. It prevents and damage to the card and also does not allow the card to slide out. I have never had any problems using that method.
