Seinfeld is pretty funny but he is definitely on a different page from a lot of the other guys. I like his standup stuff though as well as his show.

Another guy that's totally not in the same vein as these guys, but to me is one of the funniest I've ever seen is Steven Wright. Just brilliant stuff. Mitch Hedberg was similar to him too, and also hilarious.

As for the newer guys, I'm not that big into Ralphie May, although I do like him. I like some of the other guys mentioned here too - Mike Birbiglia and Dimitri Martin. I also really like Jim Norton. If anyone likes him, he's hosting an HBO show that should premier next week - Down and Dirty. I went to the taping of a couple of these, and there was some of the most vulgar, offensive, and HILARIOUS stuff I've ever seen.

There's too many comedians I can mention here, but I don't want to take it too far off track :)

Yeah, I am on the same page with way too many to mention. I think the vulgar and offensive stuff is good sometimes but I think it's a lot easier to make that kind of comedy and sometimes you will get really cheap stuff. Obviously none of these guys are really in that class but I have seen some guys who got pretty far with just a cheap vulgar act

It depends on how they use the vulgar and offensive jokes. Some of the stuff in the Norton show are just hilarious, and aren't cheap laughs. I don't like comedians that curse just to get a reaction, and guys like Carlin and Rock curse ALL THE TIME, but do it because it's part of the language, and they're not abusing it just to get a few laughs.

Exactly, if you use it right, it fits with your act, obviously the awesome comics mentioned can do that, it just looks cheap though for some people who can't do it right

Do you think Seinfeld is Republican or Democrat?

I could care less, but I was thinking of all the comedians out there, it seems like they are all Democrats...The only Republican comedian I can even think of is Dennis Miller

Actually, I think Bill Cosby is Republican as well....so that's two

That's because comedians get paid jack when they start out and they all had to live off wellfare for the beginning of their careers lol

Jim Norton is a Republican, for what it's worth. Seinfeld contributed to Bush's campaign in 2000, but then gave to Democrats after that. So who knows?
