Dreams Do Come True
hey guys wow i havent been on here in a really long time anyways well if you havent noticed already, no words can describe how big of a Doug Flutie fan I am. So when I found out a couple of months ago that Doug was being inducted into the Canadian Football Hall Of Fame and that there was going to be a meet and greet I was ecstatic, i've been a fan of his since I was about 9 or 10, because when I was younger I was always one of the smallest guys, so I was always picked last or not even picked and Doug was always small and still made it to the top in sports so he was always my inspiration.
So the day came september 20th 2008, I woke up that day as it was any other day, went downstairs made my presence known in my boxers and argo's t-shirt. I ate breakfast got dressed and went to school.
So now school is over, I rush home knowing we (me and my dad) had to leave right away to beat rush hour traffic on the highway. When I got there he had already put togteher all my Flutie cards and cards of the other guys getting inducted. I ran upstairs and threw on my chargers Flutie jersey and we were out the door.
So on the way there of coarse to my greatest desire we got stuck in traffic. My dad actually started cursing at the cars. Im not going to repeat what he said because there might be kids reading this but it got pretty heated in that car, and im not talking about the humidity. A 1 hour drive turned into 2 hours and 15 minutes. Needless to say, I thought my dream would not be fulfilled and I was kinda sad.
But my luck had struck gold. When me and my dad got there we ran to where the autograph session was to be confused to see a line of about 100-120 people in line and no sign of Doug or the other inductees, I guess they got stuck in traffic also. I got into the end of the line and waited patiently hoping I wouldnt get cut off (we all know what thats like). About 5 minutes later I hear cheering and turn around to see no other than Doug and the other inductees being escorted by security walk right past me. I turned to my Dad and said with a huge smile on my face 'I'm taller than he is"
So for some reason they decided to have the ceremony in front of everone waiting in line O.o crazy Hamilton hill billy's, anyways so they introduced the inductees and everyone would say someting like "hello, its an honour yada yada" when Doug went up to the mic he simply said "just call me Doug's younger brother Doug" and sat back down, LMAO everyone there was dumbfounded and I was laughing my a** off.
Anyways fast forward to my turn to get his autograph. There were some dealers infront of me who kept pushing for doug to sign more and more stuff and then the people running the signing started to say they only had 5 minutes left and that they wernt going to allow photos, again i thought my luck was depleted. So i go up to Doug and im so nervous. I shook his hand and I say "wow, Doug I've been a fan of yours since I was like 10, you've been an inspiration to me" and he looked kinda shocked and smiled widely. I asked him for a picture, and just as I do, the guy running the thing says "well actually sir we don't...." only to be cut off by Doug putting his arm around me and posing for the picture.
After I walked out of the line my dad went next so he could get a card signed by him and he said to Doug "He's been a fan of yours since he was this big" and showed with his hand how short I was, Doug just said "That's awsome" LOL I can't show you through text but he said said it so enthusiatically, that I had to laugh.
Well thanks for reading my story I know it's long but that day was amazing. Probably the best day of my life. I'll have pics up asap.

Great story, Im sure that I am going to feel like that when Griffey gets inducted into HOF. I am going to be first in line. I first saw him in AA ball at Reading Phillies game. Got his auto there, didnt sign JR. but you can tell the difference. Over the years (its on one of those cheap team logo balls) it has faded quite a bit but it is still my most cherished posessions.
Congrats on meeting your idol. Its an awesome feeling!!!
