Opinion on this card
I was looking at this Doak Walker auction on ebay, and something just doesn't seem right about the patch. Is it me, or does the jersey patch look way new for a guy whose career ended with the Lions in 1955? If I'm correct with my research, I haven't seen a photo of Walker that would have shiny silver material on the jersey. Any opinions?

I don't know about the patch but that is one ridiculous buy it now price.

As far as I know, the patch is not correct. Its either faked or donruss screwed up. I do not believe they had stripes on their jerseys for a while after he played (i could be wrong) I remember seeing him in a jersey with just a number and plain long sleeves.

I am starting to wonder if most of the jersey's and other items that the card company's are using are real or just any jersey that they have laying around and they say that this was game used by this certain player. Of course nobody will ever be able to prove this unless there is a whistleblower from UD or Donruss. A perfect example is a Hines Ward 07 National Treasures 1/1 Helmet card on Ebay. If you look close you see the white stars in the blue part of the flag. Well the NFL helmets do not have the white stars in the blue part of the flag, only the red and white stripes and the blue box in the upper left is just solid blue, no white stars. So that makes me wonder where in the heck they got it from??? Hey it looks really nice and all, but who's to say it's really from his helmet. Could be a flag sticker from Wal Mart for all we know.

they arent necessarily fake all the time people. a lot of time, they will have old timers wear modern jerseys for promotional events for their team. card companies then obtain these, and can label them as "event worn jerseys" which im sure is the labelling on the back of the card. that is from a modern jersey, the ones from the 50s were wool- but its not a fake
