Feddie Mac and Fannie Mae
Interesting that McCain was correct and Obama took so much from them!
"In 2006, [McCain] Called For Tighter Regulation Of Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac, The Two Federally Chartered, Privately Run Mortgage Giants That The Government Now Has Taken Over." (Steve Thomma, "Out Of Bounds! Obama Misstates McCain's Position On Regulation," McClatchy Newspapers, 9/20/08)
The Washington Post: McCain Pushed For Fannie And Freddie Regulation While "Obama Was Notably Silent." "In 2006, he pushed for stronger regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- while Mr. Obama was notably silent. 'If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole,' Mr. McCain warned at the time." (Editorial, "'Always For Less Regulation'?" The Washington Post, 9/19/08)
NOTE: In Just Four Years, Barack Obama Has Received More Money From Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac Than Any Other Member Of Congress In The Past Two Decades (Since 1989) Except Senate Banking Committee Chairman Sen. Chris Dodd. (Lindsay Renick Mayer, "Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac Invest In Lawmakers," Center For Responsive Politics' "Capital Eye" Blog, www.opensecrets.org, 9/11/08)
Don't take my word for it take Bill Clinton's.

McCain correct for once. Wow.
Yes, and Obama wrong for the 100th time. Now we know why Obama did nothing to stop the Freddie Mac mess. He was too busy spending their money.

Ok, so they both accepted money. Which one accepted money and went against the company? McCain called for reform and Obama voted present. I posted Bill Clinton stating this is because Democrats called for deregulation while McCain was pushing for regulation. This shows that McCain can accept money from a company and still go against them. Thanks for pointing this out and completely ignoring McCain going against these companies and Clinton stating that this is a Democrat mess. :)
Ash, now you know why they are ignoring it. Because they would have to show that McCain really is a Maverack and that Obama took money and remained silent.

Yes, I agree. I did hear about McCain's campaign manager on MSNBC, but nothing about Obama. Granted, I do not watch the news every night. :)

No it shows Mccain has no pull with his own party, the Rep were in control in 2006 they could pass anything. The fact it was killed shows there were rep. against it.
You can blame freddie and fannie all you want but they are not the only ones going under. And it's not clear what Mccain wants since one day he says regulate and one he is against regulation and wants free market..
