    Proline auto question

I've been looking around Ebay for 91 or 92 Proline autos and have noticed two things:
1-There's a lot of Muhammad Ali and/or Cassius Clay autos recently.
2-Some of the cards are unnumbered and crimped with the seal but the autos don't look anywhere close to authentic. ie-a few Dan Marinos I've seen.
So has someone started to fake these or is it just me? I've seen a bunch of fishy looking "authentic" Star Pics autos over the years. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

you are right about the star pics, there are a lot of emmitt and favre forgerys that were sold from someplace in the pacific, easy to forge the little gold stamp. people that have them are in denial.
there were also a lot of so called buy backs with the scoreboard stamp on them. does anybody really believe upper deck, topps, and donruss would permit that? can anybody believe a upper deck card with a mantle auto and a scoreboard stamp. yeah, right.
basically- non scoreboard or pro line buy back with scoreboard stamp equals forgery. pro line became scoreboard, more or less.
pro line autos came with no number and the pro line stamp, but there were executive sets made in 91 and handed out to coaches and who knows who else. don't know about 92.
the executive sets were not autoed but had no number and had the pro line stamp, so the coaches could get them signed. they came in a black pro line book with the 9 card plastic pages with the cards.

Thanks for the help Bearfield. I totally agree about the Star Pics autos. That fake gold sticker can be spotted a mile away. Besides, the rarity of genuine Star Pics autos(of anyone) should be a dead giveaway. It appears the same on autos of star players in the Proline sets. While they're not as rare as the StarPics you don't come across one every day either. Bearfield, did you see some of the cards I was talking about on Ebay? Do they look fishy to you? Finally about the Scoreboard buy backs, in my personal experience every one I pulled was a Scoreboard card. So I doubt they used UD,Topps etc.. cards in their buyback program. Going one step further, a good deal of their randomly inserted "vintage" cards were Classic/Scoreboard cards as well. I at least pulled other brands but they were always some cheap card....."What?! My 'vintage' card is an 87 Topps Atlee Hammaker?!?! ™™™!" :) Ok, it wasn't that bad.

i checked completed auctions and there were just too many ali with both signatures on them to be real. i wouldn't touch them for anything, they just look fake, along with a 91 marino.
