Autograph authentication companies

Not sure if this is the right folder or not but I was hoping to get some opinions on which of the autograph authentication companies were the best and are regarded the most respected. I would assume PSA/DNA would be number 1 but I don't know. I have a couple jerseys that I'd like to send in to be authenticated. Also, I have a Peyton Manning jersey that I know is 100% authentic, I got it myself, that I wonder if I should send in. I have ZERO interest in getting rid of it but if I send in the others should I send the Manning as well and have it done as well. I'm guessing my options are:
PSA
GAI
James Spence
one other one I don't remember
Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, those are the top 3. If you do a search in this forum for "James Spence", you'll see lots of threads with the same question, and you can read a lot of opinions that way.

A lot of the authentication companies are taking a lot of heat nowadays for passing fake sigs. So if you aren't selling, there is no point in authentication IMHO.

The reason I wanted to authenticate the jerseys(other than Manning) is because I bought the jerseys and would like to confirm that they are authentic. They look good to me but you never know. Actually, I never understood completely how PSA, GAI etc...opinions were better than mine, yours or whoever. I've seen plenty of obvious fake autos in my time but the ones I have look legit to me. In fact, they're a helluva forgery if they are fake. I'd just like a final confirmation I guess. BTW-Does anyone have any personal experience with any of these companies? What am I looking at as far as price, turnaround time etc...Thanks again!

from some of the autos i've seen authenticated, i know the companys are fairly easy to fool, and the dealer that sends in a lot has a better chance of 1. getting good grades, and 2. of getting a forgery authenticated. in my opinion, they just don't know.
and--this is important--they don't guarantee that anything is authentic, it is just a subjective opinion.
upper deck guarantees their autographs are authentic, but they are sent to upper deck by the players, so how can upper deck guarantee them?

If you actually watch that video, you'll see that the company gets set up. The broad buys a ticket to the autograph signing, shows them the stub (which also stands as a COA in most cases) and they pass it through. If you have the stub they will pass anything close as they should! They were completely set up.

Most people say PSA/DNA is best. There is no need to get the Peyton Manning jersey authenticated if you got it in person. All autograph signings now days put numbered holograms on the item along with a COA. And the star players like Joe Montana also have there own personal hologram they place on the item.

Authentication by PSA can be expensive though. Before send it in to get to get authenticated or buy an expensive eBay item you might want to post a picture here so other expert collectors of a specific player can give you there opinion.

Upper Deck has a person at the player signings. I just got some items signed by Ken Griffey Jr. and the there is a hologram with a COA that says "signature was witnessed by an Upper Deck representive".

The cost depends on the player. The better the player the higher the cost. See PSA/DNA website for each player listing. For example an average player may be $20 while Jordan is $100.
