Buying Packs On Ebay - Question
Hey, I saw some 2008 Topps Chrome NFL Hobby Packs on Ebay and I was going to bid, but I had a thought of suspicion because I imagine that it would be very easy for them to open the packs and if they didn't get any hits, just seal the pack back.
So I didn't bid. I checked the seller's feedback and there really weren't any complaints and no, "Wow! I got an autograph!" comments either, so checking their feedback didn't help.
I know people talk about this risk all the time, but I never knew the specifics of the tricks these sellers and dealers go through to fool us, lol.
Does anyone have any advice on whether buying hobby packs or even non-hobby box packs off of Ebay is an overall good idea or not?
Also, the price of these 4 hobby box 2008 Topps Chrome NFL cards was pretty cheap, so that made me wonder. They were like $12 after shipping.
Thanks.

Don't buy any packs/boxes except sealed boxes/cases off of ebay. That's the only foolproof way to tell whether they've been tampered with or not.

I agree, don't buy any loose packs from Ebay, most likely they have been searched, or box hit has been pulled early on and leftover packs are being sold.

That's messed up though, I can't believe how easy it is for them to get away with that. Also, why are people still buying these packs?

Are there any recommended sellers on eBay which sell boxes/cases? I'm sure some are better than others for cost and/or shipping expense.

I honestly don't know - I don't buy off of ebay currently. I do know that Cardsbythebox.com is reliable - run by member Enigma.

it's ridiculous how far some people will go to search packs, some even using digital scales to weigh eack pack and figure out what memoribilia and auto stickers weigh to the .02 gram or whatever.
never buy loose packs from ebay.
for good prices and sellers i have heard cards by the box or dave and adams card world.

I don't recommend buying any kind of a packs from ebay, either loose or hot packs. Blowoutcards.com is another great site to buy boxes or cases from. I've been buying from them now for about three years every time I get the itch to bust some wax. Blowoutcards also has an account with ebay.

blowoutcards is def. the way to go for buying boxes and cases. He is under the same name on ebay. NEVER by loose packs. They have been searched. There is a guy on youtube that explains how to search packs. He knows every trick to every product, without even opening the pack. I dont even buy loose packs at hobby stores after watching his video. It is crazy how far people will go to cheat.
