This week's Did You Know features Regan Smith, driver of the #01 Principal Financial Group Chevrolet.
DID YOU KNOW.....
Regan Smith began racing gokarts at the age of four winning several regional and state championships throughout the years. By 1995 the Smith family packed up and moved to Mooresville. Regan began competing in the world Karting Association and continued to win. By 1998 he had moved up to the Allison Legacy Series. In 2001, he began driving in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, winning four consecutive poles.
Craftsman Truck Series
Regan Smith began racing in the truck series in 2002 at the age of 18 driving the #63 Ford for MB Motorsports. Regan began the 2005 season with Xpress Motorsports but sponsorship never came. Soon after, he was hired to drive the #65 Glynn Motorsports Dodge. He was then moved over to Glynn's Nationwide team.

Nationwide Series
Regan made his first start at Memphis Motorsports Park for Ed Whitakter in 2002. He started 16th but after a wreck finished 36th. In 2003, he moved over full time with Bost Motorsports. However, halfway through the year, the team looked for other drivers. During this time he also did some races for Innovative Motorsports and Mac Hill Motorsports. He continued to drive for Mac Hill in several 2004 Nationwide races. Once being released he was hired to drive the #50 Enzyte Chevrolet for Michale Holigan (3 races) before the team suspended operations. In 2005 he began in the Glynn Motorsports car but was released from the team. At the end of 2005 he signed on with Team Rensi Motorsports to run a full schedule in 2006. His best finish was 10th at Lowes Motor Speedway. For 2007 he joined Ginn Racing for a full Nationwide schedule and 16 Cup races.

Cup Series
Regan Smith made his first Cup start at Bristol finishing 25th in the first COT race. He was removed from the #01 in July 2007 and moved to the #14 after Sterling Marlin was released.
