It's official, at least to me anyways, that baseball is still America's National pasttime. Yesterday, 8-10 NFL football players tested positive for a diuretic, which no one is denying, is taken to mask and try to hide the fact that stronger, performance enhancing drugs are being taken. Guess what, no one cares. This might be the first time you're hearing about it.
If this happened in baseball it would be 24/7 coverage, CNN, all the network news broadcast, the President and Congress would be all over it. The NFL, suspend them for 4 games and see you game 5. And we never hear about it again.
Baseball is engrained in the fabric of America. We expect it to be perfect, we expect it to never make a mistake, we expect it to always be there when we want it there. When it screws up, it's devistating. Football is a wonderful sport, don't get me wrong. It's emotional, it's fast paced, it's barbaric, it's TV friendly, but...it's not baseball. It never will be. Today is more evidence of that.
