U.S. Military Helicopters launch attack in Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria — U.S. military helicopters struck a network of foreign fighters in Syria, a U.S. military official said Sunday, killing eight people and earning recrimination from Damascus, which condemned the raid as "serious aggression."

The official, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said the special forces action within Syrian territory close to the Iraqi border, was meant to send a message. The Americans have been unable to shut the network down in the area because Syria was out of the military's reach.

"We are taking matters into our own hands," the official said.
During funerals on Monday, angry residents shouted anti-American slogans and carried banners reading: "Down with Bush and the American enemy."

The government said civilians were among the dead, including four children.

if the world being "a dangerous place" means that McCains should be elected, then everyone should be voting for him. The world is was a dangerous place whether we attacked a place in Syria or not.

Pakistan? No, we went into Syria. We might have some CIA dudes in Pakistan, but we've made little effort to solve the Pakistan problem. Obama, unlike McCain, wants to take the initiative in Pakistan.

MIGHT have CIA in pakistan!?!? Ha... we have those boys EVERYWHERE!

I see both sides of the argument for spreading out into to surrounding countries and am not sure with which I agree.

It has its merits... but we realy can't AFFORD to do it... on multiple levels.

IF we let these guys cross the boarder and attack then run back across and not go after them we will never win any war.

Attack any country you want... the war will never end.

Only takes one religious nut to keep it going... and there are more than just a few of them out there.
