    2008 Election Wackiness

I'm sure there's many more but these are the craziest things that stick in my head that happened this election. I'd love to hear of more but PLEASE let's try to not have this become just another bashing thread.
Just the facts ma'am, just the facts

Wacky #1 - At an Obama rally in Pennsylvania an attendee was asked why he was voting Obama/Biden. His response was "because the plant where I worked was closed and I think Obama will be able to help". Evidently nobody has informed this man that if Obama implements his plans of destroying the coal industry, raising taxes on the wealthy, and increasing taxes on dividends and capital gains, that his beloved plant will have a much lower chance of being reopened.

#2 - Senator Murtha of Pennsylvania calls his constituency racists if they vote for McCain yet still gets reelected to office.

#3 - Senator Stevens of Alaska gets convicted of 7 felonies just a week before the election and could likely be reelected. He has a slight lead but the race is so close that there will be a recount. Whether he wins or loses.......WOW.

#4 - A man who just three days ago wouldn't have been able to pass a background check to be a janitor at the pentagon was somehow deemed worthy of holding this nation's highest office and is now receiving the same security briefings as president Bush.

#3 is really what strikes me the most. I mean, seriously, 7 counts of corruption in the very office he's trying to be re-elected for and it's that close? *sigh*

I know Alaskans don't like the lower 48, but c'mon!

How would you like to be Mark Begich (the democrat opponent) ? He has to be thinking something like "Geeeeez, what do I have to do to win ? Run against a serial killer ?"
