    Xbox Live/Wireless router help

I bought a wireless router and an Xbox Live adapter today at Walmart to give me connection to Xbox Live.

Well, I tried to set up the router this afternoon, and every time, it failed with the connection to the computer and the live connection was saying that the DNS connection was messed up.

Anyone know what could be wrong? I called up a friend of mine who is really good with this stuff and he is going to come over tomorrow night and see if he can figure it out, but, I figured if I could get someone to help me on here I could save him some time and gas and get it set up before hand.

I followed the set up instructions step by step and still to no avail.

The router I have is a Belkin G wireless router.

Any help would be appreciated. I was told that I wouldn't need the Belkin wireless adapter, but, I'm now beginning to wonder if I will have to get one of those too.

Also, when I have the router hooked up to my modem, I can't do anything on the internet. I have to un plug the router and just hook the internet cable directly into the modem and it works fine.

Think it could possibly be a faulty router or what?

cant really help you, but I tried the same thing, called x box live to have them walk me through it and even they couldnt get it to work. If you go to the x box live website you can put in your router and its gives you the steps to set it up. Also call the live helpline. If it still doesn't work than its not compatible with your router and return it.

I use a wireless adapter, and have been using one for a long time now. First have the router company walk you through the set up. As for the wireless adapter, if you don't have a security setting on the router, just make sure you enter your SSID. It's a lot easier than it sounds.
