Marbury refuses to play
With two moves, the New York Knicks created salary space for a premier free agent down the line and playing time for Stephon Marbury.
Except that Marbury declined.
After the Knicks traded Jamal Crawford to Golden State for Al Harrington, and sent Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers for Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas, the bench was depleted. Needing the league-minimum eight active players to avoid a forfeit, coach Mike D'Antoni asked Marbury to dress.
D'Antoni said he told Marbury there would be 30 to 35 minutes of playing time available Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
However, the point guard again took his now-customary spot on the bench, where he has spent every minute this season, leaving the Knicks with only seven players in the opener of games on back-to-back nights.
The Knicks lost to the Bucks, 104-87.

Yeah, this is just pure comedy. You can't trade him because no one wants his contract, and you can't just cut him because of his contract. And honestly, with his poor showing of attitude, i don't think many teams would be interested in him. Sad though, i remember as a kid a lot of people like Marbury when he was with the T-Wolves, ever since then, it's kind of been down hill.

D'Antoni: Hey Steph, do you want to play tonight? We only have 7 guys on our team.
Marbury: Nah, I'm good. I'm getting used to the view on the bench.

id have wilson chandler take him into the locker room and slap him around a little bit.

Isiah Thomas's draft picks have been great, with maybe the exception of Renaldo Balkman. I saw a lot of potential in Lee, Robinson, and Chandler in their first year. All of them are blossoming in D'Antoni's system, so I hope they all get resigned next year.

I wouldn't play either.
They refused to play him, and want him to play 1-3 games before the other players pass their physical.

Marbury assumed he was just going to play for the one night and wouldn't be in the future plans. While I can understand why he might assume that, the guy is being paid millions of dollars. The least you can do is keep your mouth shut, just go out there and give your best for the team, and wait until the team is in a situation to get rid of you. I'm sorry, but as someone who would be very happy to have a temporary job right now even though I know it wouldn't last, I have no damn sympathy whatsoever for these people who can't play a fricking game of basketball.

it figures, IMO they need to do whatever possible to get rid of him(even though nobody wants a lazy bum on there team). its just too bad that his attitude is going to hold him back from reaching his full potential.
