I'm in Midland/Odessa for a high school football game my sister is cheering at. We are playing at Ratliff Stadium, where they filmed Friday Night Lights. It was pretty interesting.
Anyway, I'm staying at my aunts house and she informed me that Art Briles is my 4th cousin. He coached at Stephenville High School (State champions in 93, 94, 98, and 99.), was the head coach at U. of Houston, and now is the head coach at Baylor.

Yeah there is. I love it too.
That same aunt (I guess great-aunt since its my grandmother's sister), has a grandson that played at Midland Lee High School, he was the center there all four years. They won State in 98, 99, and 2000, and actually won the national champion ship in 1999. Guess who their running back was, Cedric Benson. Benson used to eat dinner at my aunts house at least once a week, same table I had dinner at tonight, haha. My cousin went on to play for North Texas.
Long post, sorry.

Here's some pre-american history on my family, The clan Johnston
In 1297 William Wallace (Brave Heart) was to lead a rebellion against England and take the first steps toward nationhood for the Scots. The Johnstones' and Bruce's rallied behind Wallace. After the execution of Wallace, the younger Bruce assumed leadership of the Scottish forces and led them to victory at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. The Battle of Bannockburn was a decisive event in Scottish history. Bruce and the Scots defeated the English and established Bruce on the throne of Scotland.

The gentle Johnstones ride,
They have been there a thousand years,
A thousand more they'll ride.
