Do you use pricing guides?

Here's a quick poll to find out what racing members do concerning pricing for racing cards.

Do you use Beckett? Tuff Stuff? No price guides? Or something else?

When I do use them, I use Beckett. Which reminds me, my month subscription ended yesterday. hm.

not usually, there kinda useless since the sv's are usually not even close to the bv's.

For me, it is Beckett for cards and die casts, and Tuff Stuff for everything else. I'd probably go to Tuff Stuff for more if they had much more pricing for cards and die casts than they do now. I know they have a free archive price guide for each sport, but those don't even cover everything like Beckett seems to cover.

It is no where as easy to use as the old OPG

And of late their pricing is rather out of whack

Like does this make any sense?? Shouldn't it be the other way around??

Beckett for me. They're new website isnt too bad once you get the hang of it.

I agree, Kathy. That doesn't make much sense to me either. You would think that the one with the lower print run would be valued at more.

Howdy, i use the updated P.O.S. beckett as a "guide' to suggest a trading $$. I have over 20 Gordons beckett doesnt list... havent looked at tuff stuff in years... last place i seen a $$ for my Rusty whole R/U/ shoe.
I havent renewed my OPG & not sure if i want to, i have to agree with Kathy, thanks to Dr Beckett for selling us out

I haven't looked at a price guide in years, I like to think that the people I trade with have an idea what the cards worth and will be fair in a trade suggestion. I've never been to swayed by the values, as long as both parties are happy with the trade its worth a Million $ to me. When it does come about that I'm trading and the values are in question I just look to fellow traders to assist, I'd rather trust fellow traders than Beckett or any other pricing guide...

For Instance, I recently traded a Race used Firesuit of Dale Earnhardt from 08 Legends for an 05 Legends Double Firesuit Gordon/Johnson. Now It would seem to me the Earnhardt would book Higher, I could be wrong, but the Gordon/Johnson was worth more in my book, and when it comes down to it, the value of a card can only be judged by what it will bring, not what someone says it should bring.

At this point, I know what the stuff I'm looking for is worth to me regardless of what any price guide says. The last Beckett big book I bought, heck the only Beckett annual that I've bought, was #5 from 2000. I never bought another because there were only a hanfull more Musgrave cards made after that book was published, so there was no need from a checklist standpoint. Also, it would take a lot of work to transfer all of my corrections and annotations from the old one to the new one, since I know that Beckett hasn't fixed any of those errors themselves.
