Cheap Airline ... 2 words that don't belong in the same setence these days!

But really it all depends, where ya going, what day, any specific times you need, willing to connect, flexible with dates and do you have too much or too little advance notice? The best is usually 7-14 days advance! It all plays into how much your ticket will be! Keep in mind that the lowest available fare will be a non-refundable ticket which in the event it has to be changed you will usually incur change fee's and any difference in the fare if it happens to go up in price.

Southwest is the cheapest when it comes to change fee's and all the additional baggage charges that most airlines are charging these days, BUT if your not in a dominate Southwest market the price could be higher than a competitor airline if that market happens to be a dominate market for them.

I do travel for a living! Feel free to PM me if you need any other info!

Jermz hit it right on the head. Generally the smaller regional airlines will be your best bet. Southwest is cheap nationwide, but if you can fly AirTran or JetBlue, they are cheap and actually nice.

AirTran tends to be fairly inexpensive here in the southeast.
